I just applied for 3 librarian jobs and I'm hoping I at least get an interview with one of them. I know with one of the jobs people have quit and I have fair chance of getting an interview because I know the person that works at the institution has put in a good word for me but they are taking forever to call me for an interview making me worried.
I don't know. I'm just really tired of this job search and ready to work full-time again.

I hear this a lot in coaching sessions, and I’ve felt it in my own career shifts too.
A few things are happening at once:
- Many sectors over‑hired during COVID, then froze or cut back.
- Application systems (ATS) make it easy for hundreds to apply, so every role feels overloaded.
- Some employers move painfully slowly, even when they’re interested.
While you wait on those librarian roles:
- Ask your contact for a realistic timeline and any internal feedback.
- Apply weekly, but also network: local libraries, associations, LinkedIn groups.
- Consider adjacent roles (archives, records, academic support) to widen options.
