A change on the spiderman story that takes place in 1930's New York. Peter Parker is an investigative journalist and after the death of his uncle Ben at the hands of the Vulture a cannibalistic sideshow attraction, working under former freak show attraction turned mob boss Norman Osborne or the Goblin, he takes up the mantle of Spiderman wearing his grandfather's WW1 bomber jacket. It's gritty and gruesome featuring brutality and gang wars.
In an alternate future, Miguel O'Hara, a brilliant geneticist living in New York in the year 2099 A.D. who is attempting to recreate the abilities of the original Spider-Man in other people and later suffers a related accident that causes half his DNA to be re-written with a spider's genetic code. He also has an enhanced costume with talons on fingers and toes, gliding membranes, organic webbing from forearms, and temporary-paralysis venom from fangs. The enemies are futuristic, with cybernetics such as lady octopus and genetically altered such as the scorpion.
In 2039 Gotham city, an aging Bruce Wayne teaches a new Batman for a new generation of criminals. Terry McGinnis is an athletic 16-year-old high school student and reformed troublemaker with a deeply ingrained sense of personal justice. Featuring enemies with cybernetics and genetic manipulation, much like Spiderman 2099. Batman Beyond features a high tech suit with flight capabilities, gliding, built in talons, listening devices, and all of the utility belt of the original batman built into the suit. The cartoon series featured new enemies such as Shriek with the ability to manipulate sound waves with a special suit, Blight with the ability to emit radiation, and old favorites like Mr. Freeze.
