15 of my Dad's Favorite Songs

I am pretty sure most of you know that my dad passed away last year. But in memory of him I am posting his favorite songs. I am sure he has more but these were towards the top of his favorites. Many I would hear him playing on his guitar that he would play as many times as he could. He really loved to get songbooks and play the guitar. Here are 15 of his favorite songs.

Nice work on that MyTake, Jj. I'm definitely familiar with those songs. I like some of them a LOT and a few of them aren't particular favorites but they're still good. Seems like your dad was kind of a mellow guy and had a streak of romance and nostalgia.

So sorry for your lose JJ I lost my aunt two years ago and it hit me very hard. I do sometimes listen to her favorite music it makes me feel closer to her even though she is gone.

Don McLean - American Pie 1971 - As a child I had this song on repeat! It was so soothing and relaxing I am so happy your Dad found joy in this song my gosh it is a classic.

I can do Old Man alright and a part of My Maria.
Amie is one I ought to try and American Pie, too.
If I could pick... I'd play Blackbird about a half hour a day (ha ha)

I know every one of these songs and really like all but one of them. (I'm not a Melissa Etheridge fan.)

My dad was born in 1926 so most of his favorites were written in the 1940's and 1950's, and they would be unknown to most of the users this site.
