With the ongoing chaos in the world, many people have noticed eerie resemblances to fictional dystopian works. Here are some of those fictional works that are very relevant to what’s going on in the world. Note: A lot of the entries on this list were given negative reviews by senseless biased critics but were given positive reviews by the average viewers, players and readers.

.)1984(novel published in 1949, film released in 1984): The most famous dystopian novel and movie about a world dominated by totalitarian regimes. The story focuses primarily on the fictional Ingsoc(English socialists) and how it has the Anglo sphere in shackles via right/liberty infringement, indoctrination and fear. The ingsoc movement is a hybrid ideology that takes elements from both communism and Nazism. People who refuse to comply with ingsoc are subject to torture until they break and are able to be indoctrinated. Ingsoc may be a fictional regime but currently it’s real counterpart Socjus greatly influences most of the mainstream media.

.) Red Dawn(1984), Red Dawn(2012): The first red dawn really angered many liberals during it’s release. The main premise is a Soviet and Cuban invasion of America. While the newer red dawn’s premise featured a more modern scenario of a Russian backed North Korean invasion of America. The Cold War is over, the Soviet Union no longer exists and America is the strongest country in the world but the fear of America falling to communist rule is still real, especially with so many far left wing groups being active as of late.

.) Meggido the omega code(2001): For the Christians reading, this movie is for you. It’s a movie about the end times. While I feel that the premise is kind of outdated by today’s world politics, the movie still does a decent job at portraying a modern interpretation of what the end times will look like. The movie focuses on two brothers but one of them is the anti christ who gradually rises to power as a dictator of the European Union. The US, China and Mexico are the only powers who are willing to go to war with the beast.

.) Left Behind franchise(2000-2016?): A movie franchise based on a series of novels that portray various aspects of the end times. From the rapture, wars, the rise of the anti christ and so on. The latest entry is meant to cater towards young Christians with it’s portrayal of young adults trying to survive the end times. Currently, many older Christians worry about the endeavors the Christian youth will have to battle through during the end times.

.)Home front franchise(2011-2016): A suspiciously underrated FPS video game franchise that is heavily inspired by the red dawn franchise. Some may call it “Wolfenstein with commie baddies” but the only similarity is the protagonists going up against a totalitarian regime. Unlike Wolfenstein, Home front doesn’t put the player in the boots of a badass ex military one man army. Instead it puts the players in the shoes of a common civilian who has no combat training and must gradually build himself up to be able to take the fight to the commies. The game was well received by most people who played it but it was suspiciously given negative reviews by the critics, almost as if they don’t approve of communists being portrayed as villains.

.) Contagion(2011): A movie about a pandemic that devastates the world. Although the virus(Mev-1) in the movie is fictional, it has been described as a realistic portrayal of a pandemic.

.)The purge franchise(2013-present?): A popular franchise about the US under a new regime called the New founding fathers that once a year turns America into a battle Royale style arena where all crime is legal for 12 hours. It pretty much shows what America would look like under anarchy. It’s a common fear right now due to all the political turmoil going on. Some have even called the recent civil unrest a “lite purge”.

.) Persecuted(2014): A very controversial film that angered many anti theists. The film portrays a evangelist who is framed by a corrupt senator after the evangelist opposes the senator who wants to limit Christianity’s first amendment. The film is fiction but the fear of the persecution of Christians is a very real fear amongst many devout Christians, especially with how much hostility is currently directed at Christianity by the mainstream groupthink.

.) Amerigeddon(2016): A very controversial film depicting America succumbing to totalitarianism. The movie shows American soldiers being trained to confiscate guns from their own citizens, UN soldiers being allowed to waltz around America and a lot more. The main protagonists are a Texan family who defend their rural home from the invading UN soldiers. Texas is portrayed as the last free state in the US. Oh and Alex Jones makes a cameo, ironically as a corrupt politician.

.) What happened to Monday(2017): A movie about a dystopian world where a regime only allows families to have one child due to “overpopulation”. The movie follows the endeavors of septuplets named after the days of the week who must survive by posing as one person whenever they are out in public. The film doesn’t describe the regime’s ideology in great detail but from the perspective of the audience, the regime seems to adhere to some type of radical environmentalist ideology.

.) Humanity bureau(2017): A movie about a future where the world has been ravished by war and climate catastrophes. The US is controlled by a regime called the “Humanity bureau” and all citizens that are “unproductive” get deported to what they think is a city called “new Eden” but in reality is a concentration camp. The story follows three individuals who unknowingly have the power to expose the truth and start a revolution against the regime. While the film is fiction, the fear of the emergence of a totalitarian regime that uses concentration camps on US soil is a real fear amongst many American conspiracy theorists.

.) God’s not Dead(2014-2018?): A film series about how Christians are frequently ostracized and ridiculed.

.) The Division(2016-2018?): The first division game takes place in New York after a viral pandemic ravaged the world and caused civil unrest. The players take the role of sleeper agents who must help the authorities restore order. The second game takes place in Washington DC which takes place directly after the first game. Both games are in third person and have role playing elements. Some of the major themes to the story are civil unrest, pandemics and environmentalist extremism.

.) Fahrenheit 451(novel published in 1953, films released in 1966 and 2018): A very popular dystopian novel and film about a future America where it’s illegal to read books and the books are destroyed by firemen. One fireman named Guy Montag eventually does the opposite by preserving books. The story speaks against censorship, specifically the censorship of literature and the arts.

.) The Hunt(2020): A highly politicized movie that makes fun of America’s current political divide. The story is from the perspective of a group of conservatives who wake up gagged in some woods and soon find themselves being hunted down for sport by a group of “liberal elites”. Unbeknownst to the hunters, The protagonist is a ex military woman who quickly turns the tables on them, goes Rambo and suddenly the hunters become the prey. If you like Rambo movies, you’ll definitely like this film that angered people on both sides of the political spectrum.

There’s definitely more fictional dystopian movies, tv shows, video games and novels but these are the only ones I can think of at the moment.
