"The Con Game" Three things I love about comic cons!

When most people think of Comic Cons they think of comic books, superheroes, and cosplay. While they aren't wrong, it is so much more. I'm personally not a comic book guy myself, but I love the atmosphere of Comic Con. It's a place where one can let their nerdy side out without judgement or fear of discrimination. Here are three reasons why I personally enjoy cons.

1. Creativity

Comicons feature a lot of homemade goodies, artwork,and commisioned drawings that you can't find anywhere else. People will take fictional characters and put their own spins on them. That is actually very creative and takes a lot of talent.

2.The Cosplays

Dressing up is so much fun! It allows you to become the character you cosplay in a safe environment. It also allows you to take photos and have photos taken of you in a rare setting. I also love seeing all the unique spins people put on them too. Yes,you may see the same Velmas and Harley Quinns 4 or 5 different times, but a lot of them are done in a manner that they differ in some variant. You never know also who is going to cosplay whom which adds a element of surprise and fun.

3. The diversity of everything.

There is something for everyone! There are Star Wars cosplayer legions, Star Trek fan clubs. Replicas of cars used in movies and TV, anime, Kpop, horror, sitcoms, video games. And the list goes on and on! Just to see all the Fandom and neediness on parade and display is just mind blowing. You also learn a lot about different genres and subgenres like Steampunk, cottagecore, kawaii, pastel goth, etc. Plus comiccon Is a mixture of ethnicity. Sexual orientation, age groups, and all kinds of backgrounds just living in the moment and geeking out.

If you ever see a comiccon advertised in your area you should consider going even if you aren't exactly a comic book fan. It will for sure surprise you what people can create and what you can find.

Yup. Love them. Been mostly due to an X-Files addiction, but now for authors I follow.. and couple milder tv shows.
My neighbor had a black keep with the Jurassic Park magnets on the doors. Then they disappeared.

I love the atmosphere. It's not all stereotypical poor hygiene, unemployed couch potatoes like some think lol

Yup. Agreed. Famous people turn up at them too, just because they are fans also, they are usually really open with everyone too. It’s like those places you imagine at the end of rainbows except you can buy tickets to actually go to them. Fun stuff!!
