My experience with video games till now. And what I think of a particular segment at the end.

The Start

My gaming journey started with NFS-MW.

My experience with video games till now. And what I think of a particular segment at the end.

I still think, this game has THE best controls for any vehicle maneuvering in the game. I have completed this game 3 to 4 times, as its a really good game, and for a lack of better alternative too.

Then, as far as I can remember, I shifted on to Prince of Persia and GTA series.

I was just a casual player of these series. As I did not care about completing the game, but just as a break, as a source of enjoyment.

Till this point, I played the pirated versions of all the games I mentioned above.

Then came the big break. I got my first Android phone. I have played countless games on my smartphones. Most of them were just for time pass, but some were serious.

The list for serious games till now includes the following game, in chronological order---

  • Clash Of Clans
  • Modern Combat
  • Asphalt series
  • PUBG
  • CODM

Any other game was a temporary fling.

For my laptop, I play these games for the majority of time---

  • Tomb Raider
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Asphalt 8
  • Some mini games

Of all the games I have listed, only CODM, and all PC games are active at the moment.

My observation for the video games.

I will specifically be hitting Battle Royale genre as this is the only genre which starts from 0, like any other game, but does not really end at all. Games with stories end somewhere as the story ends. But Battle Royale games do not.

This section is not for e-sports people. As you guys actually achieve from the games. This is for the beginner to medium level gamer. And its coming from me, who belongs in the upper section of medium to advanced gamer in Battle Royale genre.

  • You really do not achieve anything in life by this. You sense you have achieved something, just because of the ranks and points system in the game. Once you fall out of the game, which in itself is very difficult, you find that it really is not worth it. And this point applies to normal games too.
  • You would expect enjoyment from such a game, right? But no. Not even a tiny bit of enjoyment is there as the pressure is exponential in the last minutes of the game. A person with a weak hear is very much likely to get a heart attack. That kind of pressure.
  • Shift in your mentality. The games are violent in nature, by default. The last person standing wins. Means the remaining needs to be killed by you, or should be killed by someone. This nature of the game shifts your mentality from a peaceful negotiation to a do or die person, with violent reactions, in most of the cases.
  • The loss of money you do not see happening. Free-to-play thing is a marketing gimmick. There is no such thing as free. And specifically to this genre, add-ons can be purchased. These increase your skill from within the system, FreeFire is an excellent example of that. At the start, it was good, but at the moment it is pay-to-play. Purely. CODM is fair in its system and hence can be termed as an exception.

The sheer amount of money required, is enough to get at least one house. And with every new season in the game, I mean.

Many such cons are there. There are hardly any pros to this industry. Other than the temporary enjoyment. For the cons and pros that I may have missed out, you can help me out with them.
