It's just that belly dancing gives women the confidence to show it off.

I think the words are closer to healthy, not 20 years old and not toned. They aren't fat in most cases. They just have natural hips and a tad bit of below the naval emergency fat that women often store.
I struggled with exercise induced anorexia in my early 20's. I really didn't like that label or accept that I had a problem because I had some meat left belownhe hip and a tiny bit of fat reserve below my belly button.
This is where women store fat. Because I didn't have enough flute muscle it stood out.
My point is the issue is tone in a lot of cases. It fat. Muscle gives shape and makes the small percentage of fat appealing.
But these days no one keeps it tight. The abs are so important in overall health. As are the glutes.
My Belly dance instructor worked with a lot of girls who struggled with anorexia and learning the dance gave them a huge boost of self confidence. She always said it's one thing to show bland pictures of normal physique women in underwear to not make women feel self conscious about their bodies.

It's another thing to show a woman with an average physique who is still breathtaking in the way she looks and moves.

I guess it always was a dance by women for women :)
It's really hard to go from weighing 93 lbs to 185 pounds psychologically for anyone that has truly struggled with anorexia but not impossible. That's great mental healing for anyone who can I suppose.
The problem is that you don't feel comfortable in your body at 20 pounds heavier unless over the course of years.
But no belly dancing is cool I love to watch it. I have some hips on me.
True bellly dancers from the 50's were as skinny as Liz Taylor and could roll their diaphragm muscles, yes?
The "flutter" is made by moving the diaphragm.

but belly dancers now and the 50s had all sorts of physiques.
No they aren't all fat. My belly is pretty toned and I bellydance already for 8 years or so. It depends on someone's metabolism. Mine is pretty fast so I don't gain easily weight = faster result of a toned belly
Yeah, I recently started belly dancing and I love it so much. I even got to perform at a baby shower :)
besides belly dance takes a lot of belly movements. There have been a lot of times where my belly muscles were just burning for days 😂
Yeah, I remember that happening when I started out.
The woman in the first pic is fat
She's overweight. The second two are healthy looking. Most images of belly dancers that I've seen aren't fat
Agreed, though typically the have wider hips.
Oddly I kinda want to bang the first one more than the second one, but maybe not the third.
No generally I don't find them to be fat on average.
There's no normal abdomen, stop hating on physically fit women
yeah, both looks good

The most belly dancers I've seen look like your last two pictures. I've, honestly, never seen a fat belly dancer...
But I'm sure they exist.
Yes, but they look good when they dance. I think belly dancing is one of those dances that look good no matter what sized woman does it.
Yes! It's gotta jiggle man
Yuck
😂😂😂 well idc anymore
Well, you need to have a belly to make it dance!
Id go c too. Normal people have curves.
C the average body type.
i think most of them are normal
