I realise that this question is only going to make sense to maybe 5 people. Primeval is a show from the UK that featured a group of scientists who discover these "anomalies" that are essentially tears in time that work as portals to different time periods. The show featured a creature that was from the distant future and most likely a descendant of bats. It used echolocation to hunt its prey. A Quiet Place is a pretty recent movie that more people have probably heard of. The creatures in this rely on advanced hearing abilities to hunt prey. I'm going to include some pictures so you can see the similarity that I'm referring to.
My question is: If you've seen both the TV show Primeval and A Quiet Place, did you also feel like the two looked and acted very similarly?
I don't know. I work with CG animators all the time and I tend to just see all sorts of quadruped creatures that resemble either of these two in some way.
There's just some kind of tendency there to produce quadruped horror creature designs like this, perhaps with inspiration from creatures that tend to scare people like bats and spiders and scorpions and snakes and crocodiles and things of this sort, and maybe add some humanoid aspects to the design to make the creature seem more intelligent and relatable in a scary way.
That said, I've never seen Primeval so maybe I'm missing some key elements about how the creature moves and behaves that makes it more similar than aesthetics and basic form and function than what I'm seeing of the pictures. But everything starts to look rather similar to me after being exposed to show many VFX showreels and creature concepts and models.
Yeah it was a pretty good movie. Despite being a pretty basic storyline, it still felt different and entertaining, probably in part due to the lack of sound.

Yes!! I thought they were the exact same creature but then the head started opening up for the hearing abilities in the quiet place instead of echolocation but the appearance seemed way too close to not be a knock off
It would be cool if the worlds were actually connected and these are just a slightly different species of the same creature and they've come through an anomaly and wiped out most of humanity
