In this woke safe space culture everything is somehow offensive. I too was 6 when I first saw the movie and it also was my first star wars. And later a lot of my potential children were spilled in her honour. She also disagreed with the outrage.
For me, its part of the galaxy Star Wars is set in. There are many, many more distasteful ways to show slavery, but this was not distasteful actually. I think it was part of good storytelling instead of making it nasty.
Since the story arc is about Leia throwing off her chains and becoming an independent woman, definitely not. Plus we get to see her in a metal bikini, so it's win-win!
She is not degrading in any way. And even if she is sexually objectified, thats not necessarily a bad thing, may I remind you that women sexually objectify themselves far more than any man ever does

FFS, it was part of the story. What would a Jabba The Hutt do with Leia as a captive?
Are villains no longer villains? WTF?
I think your entire question is Marxist informed. It's based in equality of outcome when you think of it.

I never found her attractive, even when I was young. I don't care for her face, but I really disliked that stupid hairstyle with the two side buns.

For the story sake maybe that was the point, because Jabba is a bad guy.
She a fucking slave lol that's what they were going for. she supposed to be a hot slave space person.
Yes but if we were to dismiss every movie that is in some way objectifying to women, we would have to throw out most of the movies on our shelves.
Too soon?
It was meant to be degrading to the character, not all women.
It seems women nowadays love to be degraded. It is like it turns them on when men use them for their body.
Being a slave is degrading. Period, end of story.
Slavery itself is degrading, so what do you think?
the film was of its time... times change
To her character, yes. To anyone else? No
Definitely do-able, eh? :)
No it's not degrading. It's awesome.
To make Jabba look like an evil character.
