I have a Netflix subscription but I have not watched it yet... should I?
What are the pro's and con's?
Please share your thoughts and bring me up to date on the virtues, or lack of them, for this series... PLEASE!

I haven't seen it but from what I have heard, it is a movie that sexualizes children, and somehow expects the audience to not be offended by it.
I think it is rather sad how political Netflix has become, trying to push these social agendas through their movies and TV series, it is propaganda and it will end up as ammo for conservatives to use against liberals. The conservatives are going to say that liberals are trying to normalize pedophilia, since among the conservatives, Netflix is seen as pro-liberal.
I'm my opinion, Netflix is neither pro-liberal, nor pro-conservative, it seems like it has agendas of its own that some rather shady NGO's also seem to push. I believe the people behind those NGO's are the same people who are behind the rise of socialism and communism in the US, they are also behind the Black Lives Matter organization, whose leaders have admitted on video that they are trained Marxists. While I am supportive of the Black Lives Matter cause, I do not support the organization, because the organization ultimately uses the plight of African Americans in the US to further a Marxist agenda.
With all that being said, people of the US also need to understand that France, and some other European countries like Spain, Italy, etc, have a different culture than the US. The people there are quite open with their sexuality, and while the girls in the Netflix series were too young (11) to be considered even by the Europeans of sexual age, there are many movies and TV series out of France, Spain, and Italy that show explicit sex scenes depicting 14 year old girls. The way the Europeans see it, if it is already happening in society than it should be fine to make a movie or TV series about it. The Americans like to pretend that 14 year old girls only really care about dolls, among other girly things. Though the reality is that girls as young as 13 year olds are having sex, it is not difficult to come across one online and they will hit on you if you are an attractive and highly masculine looking man. It happens. Wether it is okay or not, I will leave it up for you to decide.
I, for one like my women older than me, at the very least 30 year old, physically and emotionally mature, sexually confident, and preferably passionate, intelligent, and introverted.
do hope that you are explaining the difference between France and US about the sexuality's because you did realize "Cuties" is a French made film and not from the United States.
Dude I hope you don't have daughters. Would you allow your 11 daughter who barely has breast buds to shake her ass on a TV screen so some big corporation can make millions off them. You know how evil those big corporations are. You liberals hate them.
Also, what the four girls in the film are doing is sexual by definition. I am sure their horny young boys and dirty old men masturbating as they watch.
@DrEaMcAtChEr I would allow my 13-14 year old daughters to live their lives however they want, as long as they do not break laws.
I do not hate corporations and nor do liberals. It's the far left that hates corporations and the far left are not liberal. They are a new breed of conservatives, anti-christian and anti-capitalist conservatives. I see them as conservatives because of how narrow-minded and controlling they are, those two are the main behavioral traits common among all breeds of conservatism.
A co-founder and writer is in court for child porn and intercourse with a 8 yo...
That may tell us everything we need to know!
Sidenote
I do not want to look unfriendly, but accusing me to be right wing is a hard insult for me...
But he is true about one thing, right wing will always lie to the people, also undermining and infiltration through sleepercells are tactics from the right wing...
My homestate Austria learned that the hard way...
Your bullshit is so big it's even funny
Here’s what looks like a pretty good review of it that better explain’s the director’s intent. I haven’t seen it and probably won’t because I’m not a fan of coming of age movies, and this is one of those but without Molly Ringwald. Kids mimicking what adults do is far from uncommon. I’d be interested in A fair critique from younger women who have recently lived through those awkward years as to whether or not it meets the director’s intent. Right now all I’m hearing are viciious comments from those who are judging it based on a few cherry-picked scenes and what they hear from others. Right now I have no opinion.
https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/cuties-movie-review-2020
Yes, there seems to be a lot of rage. I think I am going to have to watch it to see if it is justified, or not.
I will watch your review later when I have more time, thank you :)
Frankly i don't think the rage is justified but then my maturity has reached higher levels.
Definitely exploits children. I cancelled my subscription all together.
One member said they have removed it now. I guess too many subscribers like you were cancelling.
It’s not deleted my kids grandma can still see it on her account 😭
Yes, another member said she probably couldn't access it because her Netflix filter my be restricting adult movies so she is going to look at that because he told her that "Cuties" is still there as well.
I have heard that many subscribers like you are cancelling though.
Grey area. I'll tell you the two worst things about it. There is a bit which shows the main character take a picture of her vulva and upload it online. The picture itself is not shown and no nudity is shown. All that is shown is that the picture uploaded. I can see how this could potentially give young girls ideas but in the next scene she is being severely heckled over it at school and her friends reject her.
The other thing is that it shows the girls dancing in a sexually suggestive way but it wouldn't really hold much of a moral narrative if the dancing was any less suggestive than what it is. Think back to your school talent shows. There was always a group of girls who got together and choreographed some sort of dance which was basically inappropriate. If say it is about one or two steps further than that.

This is not my opinion, as I have not seen it and I will not. It's a Cuties perspective from a family therapist who works with young girls.
“The newest movie "Cuties" seems to be causing quite the stir due to the graphic sexual scenes that are soft, child pornography. I chose to watch the movie and draw my own conclusion.
*Warning: This post may be a bit much for some*
The exploitation of young girls is not the first thing you need to be worried about with the show. As a family therapist who works with young girls, Cuties is far more damaging than the graphic dance scenes.
1) The movie portrays the "cool girls" (AKA Cuties) as the desirable group to be a part of. The main character overhears the group of girls watching pornography and discussing the normalization of providing blow jobs and discussing the importance of penis size.
2) Next, the girls watch a video of (supposedly) older girls dancing and then flashing the camera in order to get "likes" on social media.
3) As older men (with facial hair) attempt to hit on the girls and ask their age, the girls respond "14" and tell the new girl that this should always be her response.
4) While video chatting with a older male, the girls keep the camera off while asking him if he would like to "touch my tits."
5) After teaching herself to grind on the floor and twerk, the main character twerks for two VERY old security guards in order to avoid being arrested.
6) After being caught stealing an older, male's phone (maybe family member), the main character starts to undress in front of him (assuming this will encourage him to give her the phone). He pushes her away and she hides in the restroom. She proceeds to post a photo of her vagina to social media. She does this as a response to another girl pantsing her at school and revealing her "child-like" underwear.
For those of you who made it this far into the post without finding the need to vomit, this is called GROOMING. I am much less concerned (although still concerned) about the graphic humping and grinding dance scenes and far more worried about young children watching this show and thinking:
"This is how I become a woman."
"This is how I get attention."
"This is how I get what I want."
"This is how I behave as a respectable woman."
This show is grooming young girls that it's "cool" and normal to seek out the attention of an older male, it's acceptable to act like a stripper if it makes me part of the "cool group", and to get out of trouble or attain things I want, I should seduce men and give them what they want.
I have never been more concerned over a show. This movie needs to be exposed for what it is... a TOOL FOR GROOMING YOUNG GIRLS.”
P. S. over 600 half naked girls auditioned for this film in front of male producers.
🤣🤣
I'm telling you the dude who wrote this did see the movie but he is an absolute hypocrite. Like if you were to point an elephant drinking water, he would write an article saying elephant are trying to normalize little girls doing bj. That's how he wrote this article.
@Snickermarstwix Dr. Turns is a woman, but yes.
Yes i watched it. My response is on this question. But i will put my response under the link. So you know what i discovered.
What do you think about Netflix releasing this new movie called "Cuties"?
My response:
(First off it sounds like you never watched the movie. I can say it is a work of art. It is a movie about an 11 yr old girl who is in a strict Senegal family who moved to France. She is trying to understand herself in a new place. Her mother and two brothers and her are living in a small apartment. One bedroom is off limits from her and her brother who she must share a room with. Throught out the movie you see who struggle through understanding the changes of her life in a new country, a new school, and seeing other girls her age who are allowed to express themselves openly. She learns that her father has decided to take a second wife and will be moving her into the forbidden room. With this she tries to find herself and escape the pain she is feeling from watching her mother break down and allowing her husband Auntie to push her into living the way she does. This young girl makes friends with these girls who through dance tries to escape from the reality. Her actions and outbursts are offensive and appaling say to least, but what do expect from a young immature girl. On top of that she has started her period. Her Auntie pulls her aside telling her how she was married off at her age which only cause more trauma for the little girl to bear. By the end she finally breaks down in enough time to run back to her mother who finally defends her daughter from her Auntie for wearing revealing dance clothes and for her behaviour. It truly is a coming of age story for before the movie ends you see her leave the Senegal dress and her dance clothes behind dressing herself in a most appropriate attire in a revelation of her becoming mature for the first time and finding herself. Just like you should never judge a book by its cover this movie should be given a chance by its context and not by its trailer or its ads. Seen with an open mind and open heart it is a story we all experience in our own lives as we learn from our mistakes and choose the right path towards are maturity. )
Wait, before I read this, is this a "Spoiler Alert"?
What if I decide I want to see it first before you tell me about it?
Yeah. You might want to watch it then. Because i did give a lot on here. I was trying to enlighten the asker. I think you might like it. Especially at the end.
After you watch it we can talk about it more and i can tell you what i got from watching it. Then you can tell me your side. But i think it's a real work of art. It is a french film.
So it's a movie and not a series?
Yes it is a movie. About 1 hour and 50 mins long.
OK, not sure when I will get a chance to watch it, but I might just out of curiosity, thank you :)
You know where to find me. So when you are ready just hit me up. Lol
@laurieluvsit the movie was created by a French Woman.

I guess this is what happens with so many culture differences in this world.
It is about the normalisation of pedophilia. The people who are defending it are either stupid, or they're pedophiles themselves.
All of the pretence about how it's about how it's all about highlighting sexual exploitation, or girls rebelling against patriarchy, is nonsense. Especially when there are videos of grown men talking about the film, calling those 11 year old girls "hot".
You'll notice that there are certain "men" here who are defending this film, talking about how "mature" and intelligent they are, and that that's why they understand the film. Funnily enough I've seen their pictures and heard their voices, and they kind of look and sound like this guy too (effeminate pansies) which is why I'm not surprised that they're defending it.
These explanations are really just long-winded ways of saying "I'm a pedophile" without actually saying it.
There are certain groups which have been trying to normalise pedophilia for a long time. They keep on throwing out feelers to see how people react. At first it was articles like "I'm a pedophile, not a monster". Attempts to get people to sympathise with pedophiles.
Now they're ramping it up. They've put out this film again under the pretence of trying to highlight sexual exploitation or oppression of girls or whatever, but it's really to normalise pedophilia. The guy in the video I just posted (youtube channel "MrGirl") in his full 24 minute video says that there are probably thousands of guys masturbating to the video as he speaks. This is making more guys like him, and the retards here defending it, start to defend it more and criticise those who are dead against any form of sexualising young children.
The intention was to shock, but also to plant that seed. Expect this agenda to continue further.
Did you watch the movie?
@Snickermarstwix
To see what it was all about, yes. Go ahead, tell me I'm just not smart enough to figure out that a movie filled with scenes of girls dancing sexually is not about promoting pedophilia, as if they couldn't have conveyed the same message in a different way.
Lol I just asked a question, now you do you. We can't really talk as I acknowledge how different our cultures are.
At the very least I could agree that using actual kids for the movie can be seen as wrong, I'm also like : if you engage an adult to look like a 11 years old girl then... You're not less of a pedophile to be aroused by that. If you dig what I'm saying.
@Snickermarstwix
I replied that way only because I've had these same conversations already with multiple people and it seems to always go that way.
I'm not sure what you mean by the last part. If you're sexually aroused by 11 year old girls I'd definitely say that you're a pedophile. Or are you saying that if they used adult actors dressed like little girls and they were aroused they'd still be pedophiles?
What I mean is that I've seen other movies where they've kind of put across the same message about child sexual exploitation. Well, one in particular which I can't remember the name of. There were no scenes of little girls acting in a sexualised manner at all.
I understand that.
I'm saying if they manage to find an adult that they can make look like an 11 eleven years old girl, meaning you could see her that way which is not how she's supposed to look like in real life I don't see how it makes you less of a pedophile.
For exemple they could have find an adulte with a disease that unables her body to grow past the body of an eleven years old. So she's maybe 28 years old but has the body of an 11. Now you can date her, but if you're just sexually attracted to her body, how are you less of a pedophile?
As for the girl acting sexual, when I saw they doing it I just found it way too ridiculous that I couldn't sexualise it. Ridiculous as their body isn't made for that yet but they want to. So at the end of the day the girl was hurting herself so much that I was thinking if I get a kid I would never want them to join a dance crew. And if this movie was for adult I believe that it was to teach us that our actions can affect our kids. Like I love girls like Cardi B (that booty tho) but I'm an adult, I'm not thinking about how a kid will that as they're the kind of girls who get our attention.
Now I got you if you feel the movie was disturbing since as far as I found the dancing ridiculous I can understand why you felt that way about it so I'm not gonna judge you as Netflix did a poor job while exporting it to the USA.
Sexually attracted to her body* I meant without knowing more about her so it's jus her body and nothing else.
@Snickermarstwix
I'm not sure if that would make you a pedophile. All I'm saying is that there are ways to highlight sexual exploitation without having to see kids (whether they're actual kids or adults playing as kids) dancing sexually on stage.
You found it ridiculous because you're not a pedophile. However, there are plenty of men like the guy in the video who have said that they did find it "hot".
What many people don't understand is what's going on with the pedophiles. They also don't know how these types of people influence people. They do it gradually, over time, breaking down resistance with all kinds of psychological tricks.
They're trying to normalise is so that they can bring down the age of consent, and they've been at it since the 80s. In fact it all started with the "queer" side of the LGBT community. They're becoming more and more aggressive with it. It's not just this film, there are articles all the time encouraging sympathy for pedophiles (first step, get people to feel sorry for them and stop attacking them). With this, the pedophiles are becoming more and more emboldened, and now they're playing with language.
Pedophiles are calling themselves "MAPs" (minor attracted people) now. Some people are equating criticism of pedophiles with Nazism. Some are claiming that those who are strongly against pedophilia only do so because they're pedophiles themselves. Some are making it a left/right issue, claiming that this is just nonsensical right wing moral outrage. They're trying to do everything they can, coming at it from all angles.
For now it's not working, but a larger number of people are defending this film for different reasons because they don't understand all of the above and that's the beginning.
its from a european writer who wrote the story for a film with similar basis as Cuties, it is also something that i refuse to watch and would highly recommend people avoid, it overly sexualises young girls through the story and even in the search for young child actresses, and all of those children who auditioned the only one's who were chosen were the ones who submitted video's of them being able to dance in a more sexualised way...
I saw another post mentioning it was created by a black woman, which isn't true it was created by a French guy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuties
and produced by a black woman, also worth pointing out just based on the trailer for it alone... within a couple of hours it already hit 1000 downvotes and continued to rise...
a #removecuties or whatever it was called resulted in Netflix losing $9 Billion if i read correctly... of which Netflix has refused to take it down...
I have just also read that the creator of the vile child exploitation piece has been arrested and is under investigation for potentially creating paedophillic material
It was written and directed by a black French woman, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ma%C3%AFmouna_Doucour%C3%A9 , who received the Academy Gold Fellowship for Women from the Academy Women's Initiative in 2019.
You don't name a single person you're making these accusations about, because they're all false. You also don't name the supposed "short film", and insist the "creator" is a man.
The film is only controversial in the USA and Turkey. Because of a stupid poster, and lies like yours.
And I'm sure you will be posting a link to where you "have just also read that the creator of the vile child exploitation piece has been arrested and is under investigation for potentially creating paedophillic material", because that smells like utter BS.
By the way, this is the French poster for the film:
And before all this manufactured outrage: "As of June 2020, the film holds an 82% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 17 reviews with an average rating of 7.21 out of 10.[31] At Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 60 out of 100, based on 7 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".[32] "
I wondered about all the hype about this movie too so you know what I did? I watched it. It was really not my type of movie and it felt like it dragged on forever. I was eagerly awaiting the controversial bit and frankly it never came. There was one bit where a girl whose age isn't easy to tell but it's possible she is under 18 exposes one tit for about 1 second and it's in a video the main characters are watching.
It's basically a modern coming of age/social commentary story and it could be argued that it is coming from an islamic point of view.
It's about an 11 year old Muslim Girl who moves to what seems to be France with her family from Senegal and becomes influenced by what I would describe as sexualised celebrity flaunt culture when she sees a video on her uncles phone. She teaches her school friends who are a dance group the provocative dance moves she saw. The movie makes every suggestion that type of dance is inappropriate for girls that age and the moral of the story is not to try to grow up too fast and to enjoy childhood.
So this is the show why people have been canceling their subscriptions for. Just by the look of the cover photo is enough for me. That is disgusting. First of all, why is the show rated for mature audiences when it's all children in the video? Seriously, what kind of sick parents would allow their children to do this? Secondly, why in the world would anybody want to watch something this disgusting? They must have something seriously wrong in their heads. Thirdly, why in the world is Netflix still playing this show, even after so many people were outraged once the show was released? Last of all, how in the fuck is that shit legal? This is a topic that really pisses me the fuck off on how people actually allow this shit to happen! It's like all these pedophile sick fucks have all this shit planned out trying to make this shit legal. Comprehensive sexuality curriculum (CSE) gets put into schools (which is very disturbing) and what do you know, several years later, TV shows are coming out like this now. It's fucking wrong on so many levels
You'll see a lot of bullshit in the comment section. Now what I believe is that most of them are certainly pedophile who rather blame a movie than check themselves. Movie is about a kid looking for who she is and not pedophilia. The movie is not even so much about twerk. Also, the movie is French, so "cutties" is just a f*cked up translation as in French it doesn't have the sexual meaning associated to that. It's really "cute" like you'll say a puppy is cute.
It talks about a girl who has on one side her very religious family and on the other side the over sexualising media and the end she finds herself in none of them, like I'm telling you, she doesn't like twerking and even cried while she was supposed to dance on stage.
So yeah, people in the comment section must be some hard kind of pedophile to sexualise a child and yeah Netflix exported the movie to America poorly cause in the end most of them never saw the movie but will write article on how it's about pedophilia. Like the writer is a mother lol 🤣
Like the movie critizise the oversexualisation of women in society and how it can affect a child. But the child doesn't like it but feels like one day or another it will be a request from society, like forcing to her
The problems with the film are with the execution and distribution.
This is NOT a mainstream film and the average person is going to be highly offended by it. It's not the premise as much as the fact that the sexualisation can definitely be seen as gratuitous in parts, even for someone who is ready for it the way its portrayed is uncomfortable to say the least.
The other side is it seems very hypocritical, very "watch me show how bad assault is by beating this guy up".
For an example I'll give Requiem for a Dream. That is an uncomfortable film about the dangers of drugs and in the end you see the consequences of it. Cuties is a coming of age story, we've seen it before. Outcast joins popular kids, realises it's not as good as they think. The sexualisation is almost secondary and in a sense unnecessary to the story as a whole, I can't think of any place where it's shown where the road these girls are on leads to. That's the thing this show is missing, want to be uncomfortable go all in.
We could talk about cultural differences aswell, one of the most disturbing things I have found out through this show was the case a few years ago in France where a lawyer was arguing that an 11 year old (the same age as the girls in the show) was not a child and could consent to sex with a 29 year old. I'm not saying that this is widespread but a lawyer being able to bring this up as a defense is amazing.
It's one of those things. If it was meant to showcase how bad sexualisation of minors is it does a very bad job of it. You might get something out of it but from the response I'm not sure you will.
Its basically soft core child porn woven into a story about rebellion against your parents. The protag does a couple of horrible things like framing someone for child porn, almost killing someone, etc. The movie ends with a big scene were 11 year olds are twerking and dancing sexually and i believe the movie even contains a child nipple slip. The end of the movie everything is magically alright and she does not suffer the consequences from anything.
I personally got this from reviews of tge movie that leave the possibly illegal scenes out, it is classified as child porn in some countries so i warn people to be cautious in watching it.
Its effectively pedo bait with a terrible plot.
"The movie is trying to communicate the message that sexualizing children is bad!" while the movie does just that to actual children. I have not watched it but have watched reviews from multiple people who have and that shared censored clips.
Whatever message this movie is trying to give is completely lost in the fact that it is peto bait. It would have been one thing if they had used adult women with young looking bodies or even high school aged girls to an extent. Using actual underage girls to do the various exposing and sexual acts they did is unacceptable.
Right? It's akin to filming a movie about someone actually abusing an animal to showcase animal abuse. Or that underage kids using drugs is a problem so we will have kids actually use drugs. But don't worry people the animals were only minimally abused and it was mostly just controlled and monitored amounts of alcohol/nicotine/etc. so it is perfectly fine to break the law as long as it is for the sake of criticism.
It's about a little Muslim girl who is taught to cover up and that "hell will be more full of women than men because sin resides in the exposed flesh of women." (I believe that's the quote from the movie.) She goes to school and meets girls who dances and wear clothes that show their stomachs and she is immediately attracted to it. She befriends these girls and becomes part of their dance group, hiding it from her mother. The girls get into all kinds of trouble and it causes a lot of problems in the main girl's life. By the end of the movie, she realizes it and becomes ashamed. The moral of the story is that girls can be easily tempted, but should always remain modest or it will ruin their life. That's what I gathered from the movie.
Thanks for sharing!
The problem is it’s definitely being promoted to pedophiles, all the “dancing” is twerking and although yes twerking is a dance move it’s not just appropriate for a show to revolve over kids twerking like who’s asking for that realistically other than straight up child predators?
Also my other issue with it is having a child “rebel” against religion and dancing sexually at a young age like what in the world.,.
Now I’m not religious but that’s not okay and it’s a Muslim child I believe and I’m sorry spreading the idea that Muslim women are oppressed and need to shake their ass to be free is islamaphobobic to say the the least.
I don’t see a problem with the show if it was just them dancing and not clearly kids acting as exotic dancers it’s just not okay.
I haven't seen it, but i saw the video review by shoeonhead, who does a good job taking a look at it.
The plot in itself is quite basic, young girl tries to be famous by dancing like the famous HipHop stars and in the end realizes its not worth it and goes back being a "normal" schoolgirl.
The controversy is that 80% of the film is close up shots of the barely clothed bodies of the 10-12 year olds.
AND the regieseur is a black woman, so everyone who critizes the movie is either a racist or sexist or both.
So you either support a movie thats more or less child erotica/soft porn-ish
or
You are a racist sexist asshole hating on the female black regieseur.
I never supported it, i haven't seen it.
I just gave an explanation what the movie is and why there is such a controversy.
@mustnabi1
I think he meant quote un quote ~~ I e that is what people who supper the movie, accuse anyone of who is not in support of the movie. That they don’t simply accept it was child pornography only racism to see that it was.
@mustnabi1
Yes VIVANT is correct i was refering to what other say on Twitter, which i also know only because Shoeonhead did collect these opinions.
The thing is. without people being outraged, no one would have seen this movie. The Movie got millions of views just to see what the outrage is all about, so everyone going onto the Internet and complaining did contribute more to the success and popularity of the movie than any other one.
It is supposed to show how bad it is to sexualize children. However, regardless of message, I don't think there's ever an excuse or justification for a grown adult standing behind a camera telling children to twerk, smack each other's butts, grab their own crotches, etc.
Its not about the sexualization of children. Its about a girl growing into maturity and realizing where she wants to be as a person.
@COMMODOREII That's great. They could have done that without having had an adult standing behind a camera telling children to twerk, smack each other's butts, smack their own butts, and grab each other's crotches.
Well in that scene the girls had found themselves watching a dance group of women doing that and they thought they had to do it to win. I took that as our children seeing our own behavior in media and thinking its ok. You are right though, twerking and grabbing crotches is just not a good action and should not be done.
@COMMODOREII It really doesn't matter the context within the movie, or why the characters did it. The fact is that real adults, in real life, stood behind a camera telling real children to engage in those activities.
Even worse are the parents of the four girls who allowed their young daughter to be in the dim and be exploited for being cute little kids... at their age they should be far from being viewed as sexual objects.
Love the plot and the message but the execution was done terribly. They shouldn't have used real children. There are many movies that have done similar type of plots without using actual children. I've only seen clips and reviews because I'd rather not have my door busted down. But I heard it's just straight up child porn. There are random close ups of their bodies, there's basically a wet t-shirt contest, and there's a scene where the main girl's pants are pulled down and it's just a close up of her butt.
This movie is very sus and anyone who watched it and didn't do it to review is a pedophile.
What you mean you like the plot?
@berserk945 You know what saying plot wasn't the best word choice, just the overall message and just little events that happend ( that weren't the sexulization of the kids )
So its goal was to help fight against sexulization of kids but sexulising the ones in the move and end upon up creating what they tried to prevent?
I feel like there goal wasn't to fight against it, they were just using that as a front
@berserk945 Yep
Because there going is really to sexualize kids and pave the way for pedophiles to become part of LGBTQ+
@berserk945 I don't understand how pedophiles think that the LBGTQ+ community is for them. The community has people who can GIVE consent and isn't emotionally/mentally.
@berserk945 you are wrong. It has nothing to do with sexualization of kids. Its about a kid who chooses her own path.
@COMMODOREII Your the problem!
@berserk945 great come back. 😂
@COMMPDOREII Thanks! 😁
@COMMODOREII The movie is about a young girl who has been sexualized and then is pressured to sexualize herself in order to fit in. Though yes by the end of the movie she does choose her own path which is to just be a child. The sexualization of kids is still a big part of the message in the movie. Not just choosing your own path.
I saw the movie. She was having issues with her family and tried to escape and followed the wrong crowd.
@COMMODOREII Yet still the movie sexualized all those kid actors regardless of what their intentions are.
And consequently created basically child porn for any sicko out there to get off to.
@COMMODOREII Bro you weren't paying attention, even the writer said they wanted to bring attention to how kids are sexualized. And the movie did that but also ended up sexualizing real kids.
The movie supper sexuallizes female girls of 11 years old. Humping the floor, twerking, in super skimpy clothing and makeup. In 1 scene the main character posts a picture of her vagina on social media. In another scene the little girls are watching a video of other girls in an opposing dance groups routine. At the end of the routine one of the girls flashes her tits towards the camera, also around 11 years old. Another scene the girls grandma and mother are throwing holy water on her while she twerks rabdomly in the middle of the room with shorts barely covering her ass and a white sleeveless t-shirt on.
there's so many things wrong about the movie and told in such a poor way that it represents the complete opposite of the intended message the movie was trying to present to the world.
It has a good message, but that is it.
Im not sure, its my best explanation of the scene
also not the creator's first attempt either, he created a short movie with pretty much identical story and despite that getting a hell of a lot of flak he still went on to create this one, which obviously resulted in a hell of a lot of flak... not sure Netflix truly understood what they were getting into when they accepted the film into a contract... but the guy is undergoing investigation and is currently in custody.
@SjE78 "... not the creator's first attempt either, *he* created a short movie with pretty much identical story..." It's this sort of thing that makes me think you might not be being entirely honest.
"Cuties (French: Mignonnes) is a 2020 French coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Maïmouna Doucouré in *her* feature directorial debut."
Did you know that QAnon/Pizzagate is simply recycled early 20th century propaganda? ↗
@SjE78 Nah, you're just repeating lies in the hope that everybody gets bored and goes away with the impression you want. I'll respond to your opinion, but point out here that you don't name a single person in it, despite just claiming "I have already [named the "creator", and the short film] in my own comment".
It's much ado about nothing.
Basically a movie about how Western women have a real hard time finding an identity outside the common tropes, despite all the pretensions of Western social freedoms.
Americans just can't hack being told they are liars and living a nightmare, not a "dream" as they like to think,
it's about issues with imigration ethnicity and children watching highly sexualized content on the internet, not having any sex education, not knowing that it's actually sexual in nature and then emulating it.
so the film does rise some very valid issues but the film depicts children in basically softcore porn fashion to get the point across. that's the controversy. cause the actors were actually underage so what they did was technically illegal.
From what I understand it's a film that ostensibly is a "commentary" on child exploitation, but the execution of that commentary *actually* exploits its preteen actresses. Lot of uncomfortable crotch and ass closeups, it's like the "dance" sequences were shot by a soft porn director. Critics love it though, they're fine with pedo bait as long as it pushes feminism rhetoric.
I think they actually like the fact its pedo bait, especially male feminists have a bit of a reputation for having a higher chance of being sex offenders. Combine that with journalism and you get that article claiming the movie shows people that they can infact be attracted to children. Which is a very creepy conclusion.
See MyTake over here:
No, "Cuties" is not pedophilia. However...
Nicely done and great expose'!
I have been screaming into the void about things like child beauty pageants forever. Smh... people have been talking about this for years, but no one was listening. Think back to Brooke Shields Pretty Baby film, think about John Bonét Ramsey, those were prime examples of the exploitation of children and people turned a blind eye. People need to pay better attention not just because it's trendy right now with pizzagate and save the children. Show this same energy towards children locked in cages.
Um because underage girls are sexualize as they joint a fucking twerk team people have a very very very good reason to extremely pissed off about that shit. If you had a little girl you'd be cool with her dressing like a 12 slut who shakes her ass all over the place
I watched it due to the controversy because some people were saying it's actully a good movie and true to life. I disagree, and think it should be taken down.
In the movie the 11 years old try to suduce, discuss blow jobs and lying about thier age to get with older guys.
Its basically a how to get layed guide for 11 years olds 😓
They are upset with the sexualization of underage girls in it. Never watched it but this is what they are protesting, that its having little girls in sexual poses, twerking, done up in makeup to look more sexualized in very revealing clothing and this bothers many people (and in my opinion with good reason).
They're way underage. They put an almost rape scene. Where one of the little girls starts taking her clothes off in order to get out of a conversation with who I presume is her father. Its just fucked up for that age however wouldn't surprise me if thats how it is in parts of the world
As far as I can tell, without watching the film, the controversy comes from people who have had no problem with Dance Moms, which is in its 8th season and contains no less child pornography. But it's an election year, and fear and distrust gets votes.
Don't trust any allegations unless they've been verified, it looks like people just love throwing around unfounded lies.
This is a French film with subtitles; how many people would have watched it without all the fuss?
It also is part of and feeding into the QAnon conspiracy theories. Did you know that QAnon/Pizzagate is simply recycled early 20th century propaganda? ↗
It is disgusting, girl. Don't bother. It is way beneath you. I never heard of garbage on like that with Netflix. I have been seeing the scenes of young 11 yr olds and I am sick to my stomach. What mom would allow their daughter to do this? Very sexual and disppictable. You should cancel it like millions are now doing.
You never saw it.
@COMMODOREII I saw enough... Yuk.
I have seen people on here saying it sexualizes children. but i watched seen the little preview on Netflix and i think its more about how our culture forces children to sexualize themselves. they are dancing for a competition or something (i think) so it no worse than those beauty pageants for kids we have in america
And beauty pageants are gross too
@IAMNathanael They are, but notice the relative amounts of outrage. For that, or Little Miss Sunshine, or Dance Moms (which has had an episode "Topless Showgirls" removed from circulation, six seasons ago). This is obviously being blown out of proportion.
It’s an attempt to normalize kids in porn disguised as something else like empowering girls.
One of the producers is a convicted child molestor.
I went back & looked. Not a producer... On the Quartering youtube channel (comics focused non partisan) a comment said the co-founder of the Sundance film festival that gave Cuties an award was arrested for child sexual abuse. “Sterling Van Wagenen, who co-founded the Sundance Film Festival, has been sentenced to at least six years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual abuse of a child.”
Not sure how connected it is to Cuties. As far as “election year”, there’s a trend by movie makers to test boundaries that had nothing to do with the election. It’s been going strong for many years in my opinion.
You're obviously right, of course.
Did you know that QAnon/Pizzagate is simply recycled early 20th century propaganda? ↗
Pretty much, yes. Republicans and QAnon are becoming less and less distinguishable. This seems to be an exhaustive list of all the Republican leaders who have spoken out against their lies, one of which you uncritically repeated in your opinion:
"Rep. Liz Cheney, chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, has denounced QAnon as “dangerous lunacy that should have no place in American politics.” Republican leaders such as Rep. Adam Kinzinger and Sen. Ben Sasse have also denounced QAnon. Former Gov. Jeb Bush has said of QAnon, “Nut jobs, racists, haters have no place in either Party.”"
If you can find me an instance of Trump ("I hear they like me") or McConnell denouncing them, I'll be very surprised.
I’m not Republican and I have a big problem with Cuties. You’re just going to make yourself look like a pedo supporter. By the way, I have pointed out instances where Republican politicians were pedo in the past & I would do the same to a Democrat. It’s not a political issue for me or most normal people
Did you, or did you not uncritically repeat the lie that "One of the producers is a convicted child molestor. "? Don't you think you should be apologising for that?
What is your, non-Republican, personal, problem with the French film Cuties? Whatever it is, could it not be equally applied to the US exports "Little Miss Sunshine" and "Dance Moms"? If not, why not?
I am not "supporting" paedophilia*, I'm pointing out the hypocrisy in saying this film, this year, is uniquely terrible, especially considering it was made by a woman to try to open people's eyes to what happens to young girls when they try to mimic grown up women's dance moves. There were reasons why certain things didn't make it onto TV 30, 40 years ago. (Although you were much more likely to see a depiction of a woman "enjoying" being raped in films, back then. Things are never perfect.)
* That is the nastiest part of these accusations, anyone pointing out that there isn't any pornography in a film is accused of supporting paedophilia; should we ban playgrounds, too?
1. There’s nobody here for me to apologize to. You? You’re not a producer on cuties so I won’t apologize to you.
2. Nobody is saying the reason to block Cuties is because of who that alleged producer was. It was just a tangent.
3. I showed you EXACTLY where I got the info from which is a nonpartisan youtube channel about comics & media. Maybe you should apologize to me for accusing me of being Qanon... but I won’t hold my breath for that.
4. My problem with Cuties is that it’s soft porn for pedos & something to brainwash young girls into being pedo victims. The fact you even ask says a lot.
1. Why not? You lied to everybody here.
2. A tangent that was completely untrue, and which exceeded the lie you were told.
3. Do you believe every comment on every social media platform uncritically, or just the ones you thing should be true?
4. On your track record (and the reviews), I doubt very much that it is what you say it is, and you didn't answer my question about why you (and everyone else) aren't equally up in arms against Dance Moms and Little Miss Sunshine. The most likely explanation is that there's a culture war election going on, this year.
The movie speaks against sexualizing children. But to sexualize children to speak against it, and making it 10x more showing and apparent than irl to protest against it is absurd. It's like trying to deter people from lighting a campfire in a forest by put the entire fucking forest on fire and saying "this is what could happen if you light a campfire in the forest!" The writers are clearly not very bright or are just playing stupid.
Its soo dumb, the ones against it do not know French culture nor do they know anything about dance and depending on your system of belief It may be against some peoples core beliefs when it comes to religion and political correctness, maybe they should have kept it in France and not made it available to the rest of the world.
Either way I see nothing wrong with a movie about dance.
It is sexualising children (the actors there who dance sexually are 11-12) under the disguise of being some sort of coming-of-age drama movie.
I like Netflixs, but they really screwed up big time with this crap. I certainly won't be watching It.
Here's a ten minute video that I watched about it.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/lGITudIVBE8The controversy is that they are funding something that is literally 13 year olds twerking. The irony is that apparently the show is supposed to show how messed up that is, but meanwhile they do get 13 year olds to do so.
Here in the UK girls used to be allowed to appear topless aged 16 in magazines and newspapers. I remember the Sunday sport had one very pretty teenager who was very voluptuous but not fat and had very very large overdeveloped breasts for her tiny frame, they spent 3 months building up the story everyday in the daily sport with interviews and pictures to when she would eventually turn 16 and thus finally be legal age to appear topless in their paper on Sunday.
That’s honestly vile, when did that happen? I don’t remember
@AmourHoney used to be a thing years ago, it was made illegal in the mid 2000s the age limit being pushed to 18. Famous page 3 girl Samantha fox started age 16. Naturally back then being a teen I was quite delighted at this newspaper
I'd follow the link that @COMMODOREII posted other than that... You might have to watch it and maybe do your own take on it 🤔
A lot of it is the terrible advertising choices made for the US ad campaign. Cuties is the story of a girl who struggles with coming from a conservative background, but making the choice to experiment with conforming to western sexualization.
Almost got it. She was in a strict family where their culture favored child marriages and went to sexualization freedom but chose her own path in the end.
@COMMODOREII Oh okay, thank you! I'm not sure if I want to give it a watch or not, but I watched the review done by Aba and Preach.
Generally i liked the fact that here is this girl trying to figure out how to act and how to grow up and she had elements pulling her in directions she didn't want. Her culture and the social media side. In the end she chose her own path and dropped both of those other paths. Yes many of the scenes were shocking and offensive. But you need to imagine how real girls in real life have to deal with everyday which is far worse. Hiding the truth is not the best thing to deal with society's problems but education and real change to make everyone better off. Calling this movie pedophilia or child porn when they are trying to make a point only strengthens the problems in our society instead of learning from it and striving for real change. And to hear people make judgements without actually seeing it is like those who won't learn from their mistakes.
@COMMODOREII An adult standing behind a camera telling children to engage in sexual activities is never justified.
Child nudity, child sexualization, a push to normalize pedophilia. Technically it qualifies for child porn in the us
I wouldn't give Netflix more views on this one. Bad fame is still fame in their eyes. And fame equals money.
I don't get why anyone is surprised. Hollywood is a pedo central. Children are just commodities.
I think its already been removed. I searched it today because i wanted to see what was SO bad about it, couldnt find it on netflix at all🤷🏼♀️
I checked. Its still there. I searched for it and it came up. Check to see if you can watch Mature Audiences rated material.
Because they are 11 yr old children dressing and acting like whores, its glorifying pedophilia and sexualizing children
Sounds like you never saw the movie.
It’s basically a show about little girls sexuality and is considered soft porn for pedifiles. From what I’ve read one of its producers was arrested for child sex abuse.
it's a nice yet bittersweet coming of age story that was poorly marketed by Netflix in a somewhat sexualising and exploitive way, and that has an unfortunate English title.
I haven't watched it and i refuse to.
It is food for pedophiles and some call it soft porn. They are trying to normalize sexualization of children so they can fall under the LGBTQ community
the message is about how you shouldn't sexuallize children but it shows this by actually sexuallizing real children which is gross
A story about 11-year-old girls working in the sex trade?
I'd rather watch a MacGyver rerun and relearn something about science.
@DamnSam Yes. Richard Dean Anderson starred in both in MacGyver and the Stargate series. "MacGyver" was RDA's "breakout" role, and the way they used basic scientific principles to solve the problem at hand was great. Admittedly, some of the "set-ups" for the solutions were a little bit (OK, sometimes, a BIG bit) idealized, but even if it sparked some interest in science "pre-STEM" for the kids, it was worth it.
Not sure exactly but reading articles on it the girl is very young and I guess she is hanging out meeting boys. They say that the teens are being sexualized
I've only read the wikipedia article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mignonnes (It's a French film), but there's no mention of boys, just girls dancing in competitions. It sounds like a serious film. Mostly it sounds like Republicans are making a election year fuss about something that's far more intelligent and no more explicit than reality show Dance Moms, which has been going for nearly a decade.
From what I have heard, essentially it's all underage kids doing sexy adult dancing and they make sure to zoom in on all areas that would normally be sexualised for adults.
Just from that poster you can tell its inappropriate.
@Xoirwinkan I can agree this show is disgusting and inappropriate but that poster is actually no different than a dance competition.
I have two older sisters who were insanely good at dancing growing up and my family dragged me to ALL of their dance competitions. That poster is displaying typical dance attire and poses.
@snowboarder720 I think that their dress is too revealing.
There are petitions available that can be found on the web and other places. Please take advantage and SIGN as many of these anti-Netflix petitions as you can. Sexualizing children by adults cannot be tolerated.
Did you watch the movie?
@Snickermarstwix No, I don't have Netflix. And never will
It's not just about this movie/show... it's about the general TREND of shows that Netflix plays.
I have no idea what it’s about because I have DIRECTV that’s where the big boys play. It’s extremely expensive though
I heard two things. One thing is that it is child porn. The second thing it is about the pressures the western world have on little girls to be sexual used while they are still being traditionalized.
Watch it yourself and after you see then make your own decision on it dont follow social media.
Is it like one of those amateur beauty contests that moms put their kids through?
It is a Netflix feature movie
No, "Cuties" is not pedophilia. However... ↗
I have heard that it hypersexualizes underage girls in order to decry the hypersexualization of underage girls.
Got no idea, must be reality TV, and not my cup of tea.
There are no pros, its disgusting, it's basically a show that pedo's can enjoy, that's why there's so much backlash, it should be removed, I don't know what Netflix was thinking :-|
Marketing the the pizzagate Dems... I jest about pizzagate of course
looks like the new reality and that must be why people talk about it that much
It's just so messed up I don't even want to talk about lol
