Should streaming services have a comment section?

in my opinion, complete waste of time. There are plenty of platforms made for commenting/discussing movies/shows. Platforms like Netflix or Disney+ are not meant for commenting, they are meant for content. Just like you don't expect a teacher to be a fire safety expert, you shouldn't expect content platforms to host a comment section as that takes effort, time, money, etc that should be spent on the content they charge people for. Hell, that's another reason in itself. If I'm paying for Netflix, why the fuck would there be a comment section if that means less attention on content which is 100% the reason I'm paying for it? Lastly, Youtube arguably shouldn't even be there, as it does include a content section already but also, it's different from all the other ones shown because it's not usually meant for full shows/movies but for self created/more minor produced content.
I dont think so because they would have to heavily moderate those comment sections in order to get rid of inappropriate content. That would take a lot of time and probably a waste of money for them.
Imagine you’re starting to watch a tv series. While there is already 5 seasons. You’re on 1st episode of season 1. And in the comments section you accidentally read spoilers about main character dying on 5th season. Hell nah, I don’t need that.
Great idea. But trolls. 🙄

I think there should be an option like back in the day on Xbox there was the option to watch movies with your friends/family. I think that would be more ideal than a comment section. Especially since it’s a pandemic and many of us are watching new releases from home.
That's a dope idea. I never have anyone to discuss the shows I watch with.
I think that's a good idea! They have it for dvd movies and tv on amazon, why not for video, in fact I think even the streaming buy videos have a place to comment on amazon
If you want to talk about your favourite movie or series there is reddit, facebook groups and other external discussion groups.
I don't want it to be another social media. Just let me watch my shows in peace
No way, I watch those to get away from gossip or trolls.. plus what if you click the comments by mistake and read spoilers? lol
Such comment section needs to be moderated. It costs money and in times of one sided and very selective "political correctness" such comment section will be surely a censorship festival.
I'm actually a little surprised none of them has done this yet.
Maybe it'll be too hard to filter out all the slander?
You can edit out spoilers, but I'd like to tell the streaming services how much some of their content totally SUCKS !!
I'm not sure but It would be something they might want to consider
I think not because many people write insulting and hurtful comments online they would likely never say offline.
Most people just talk on a twitter hashtag about the show.
Amazon has something better. It’s a buddy system where you and you buddy’s can chat as the movie is playing
Oh lol
No, because you can look up just about any show or movie on Youtube and leave comments there.
No that would be annoying. Because someone could post spoilers.
Some websites that host videos have comment sections. But I just read them to see if the video works or not, cause you’ll have to wait like 10minutes to find out the video is junk.
No. That's as daft as suggesting cinema's should have in-theatre bars.
And all should have trailers available with a link to the movie review
I think all news stories should be forced to have a comment section. Let more people speak and be heard.
I have DIRECTV I have all the pay-per-view channels HBO Cinemax Showtime stars epics movie channel and so on
Spotify maybe, but not services like Netflix.
Not a comment section but maybe a rating section.
Yeah, makes it more fun.
Netflix used to have one
no please... more censorship will follow that..
Viki rakuten already has this feature
Probably not. Waste of bandwidth
I don't watch most of them, just youtube
Did you get this idea from Joe Rogan?
Nah just talk about it elsewhere
Nah. I'm good.
No thanks I'm good.
