No. Konami ruined the game. Yu-Gi-Oh used to be a game of strategy, you used to have to plan out, and prepare for, your big moves a few turnes ahead. But Konami keeps introducing faster and simpler special summons for the big monsters.
I've played all 3 big card games; Magic, Pokémon, and Yu-Gi-Oh. Yu-Gi-Oh was always the most versatile. There was no right or wrong way to play. Sure, some were better than others, but there was none that was explicitly wrong. But then Konami kept making stupid choices for the ban list, putting cards on there that shouldn't be and not putting cards on there that should. As well as introducing mechanics, such as pendulums, that basicly reduce the game to a swarm fest.
All that said, Konami is getting better. They're releasing new support for older deck types. So maybe the Yu-Gi-Oh it used to be is coming back.

I got no idea, Yu-Gi-Oh is the only TCG i don't understand.
I play (ed) Magic, Pokemon TCG, Hearthstone, Eternal, ... and even watched some of the Episodes of the Anime, but Yu-Gi-Oh was always this random summoning of Monsters and Cards, as far as i could see it.

I have nothing against quick effect monsters.
But... There are decks where they're basically playing solitaire and you just need to sit and wait for them to finish. Which by that time they're board is all set and can negate everything. Meaning you spent maybe 5 minutes watching them play with themselves and you can't do anything.
It definitely needs a revamp. The ban list is somewhat pointless.
