What is your opinion on the Will Smith incident at the Oscars?

Was it excusable what he did on national TV? Will his behavior harm his future in Hollywood or it will benefit him more ending up as a hero who defends his family at all cost?

My opinion is mixed. I know Chris Rock is a comedian and as part of being a comedian he is known for making bad taste jokes always. Chris should had not joked about Jada`s hair condition of course not. Jadas face expression said it all. But then Will in order to defend his wife from this bad jokes, he stood up and went to the stage and punch Chris Rock in his face for making such a joke. Then while being seated people say he started to babble obscenities. I did not hear obscenities, Did he really say those words or not?

I mean Will did the right thing in defending his family, that I totally agree but what I disagree is that his act per se, he did it in front of an audience and on national TV. His behavior was not excusable. He should had done that on a commercial break. If he wanted to punch CR do it but in private or in a commercial break at least like I said. Maybe it was a spur of a moment act that Will could not hold not to defend his wife and did not weigh in that what he did he did it in front of other colleagues and in national TV and that was embarrasing of course.

There is a time and place for everything, Will did not think of that of course cause it was just a immediate Will reaction to defend his wife.

What if Chris Rock sue Will for hitting him in public and non national TV? Could that possibility really exist?

I understand what your saying he should of did it away of the public eye not during the Oscars ... BUT it's will Smith he on top of the world in entertainment and well respected he never causes problems and he a human being and a man people let there feelings get the best of them sometimes and Chris rock was just doing what he does for a living tell jokes he gets paid to piss people off but he directed his crappy joke too the wrong wife at the wrong time on live tv lol I don't care who u are if u make a joke about a another man's wife and it's serious to them behind closed doors damn and he knew he would piss off will Smith and will Smith fell for it in Chris rock mind he earned his pay check that's fans talking about it thats the entertainment world and nothing will happen they both win will Smith defended his wife honor and Chris rock got a eye jammie lol they both will get a fat bonus check... and oh yeah u know what Chris rock said was rehearsed before the event he already had his words prepared and the producers said go for it it was attentional he wanted will Smith to uppercut him lol it's all about the ratings it show biz not a big deal they both got paid extra and wifey too for doing there part fact lol :)!

The three of them (Will, Jada and Chris) will all benefit from the publicity. Will should be prosecuted for assault, but he won't be. The joke was in poor taste but it would have been better to do nothing. Will may have been defending his wife, but by doing what he did, he made more people aware of his wife's alopecia issues. I, for one, knew nothing about that until this happened, and I'm not alone. In essence, while defending his wife, Will Smith violated her privacy.

Yes Will Smith could had left the ceremony one good option. But there is a time and place for evertyhing and I guess Will as it was a spur of the moment thing coudl not think through and he did that in front of coleagues and on national TV.

I guess the person who stood up to defend Jada was Will SMith the husband not Will Smith the actor.

The way Will Smith was shouting from his seats after the slap made him look crazy.
