What's wrong with popular music today? What's right with it?

This isn't a hot take or anything but I feel like mixing is always overly focused on vocals and people let crappy music go just because the singer is good.

But there's a lot of really cool experimentation in major records by major artists. And even when it doesn't work, it's pretty cool when someone extremely popular still goes out of their way to try something that isn't just copy and paste.

Well, when I was a kid, they had actual humans playing the music. You could feel the emotion of the song conveyed not just through vocals and lyrics, but also through the instrumentation. So, that's what's wrong. What's right is that modern music does indeed convey the spirit of our time with its emphasis on technology.

I think technology is used more to hide mistakes than actually create new sides and vibes.

But it is getting harder to create something really new in the music industry, most combinations have already been tried.

But I like that pop music is from around the world, they're still called j-pop and k-pop, but 60 years ago having a global hit not be English would have been unmaginable.

Everything is changed and what's weird about it is the radio stations just play with they want to play but there's all kinds of music out there that I haven't heard and I keep finding it more and more I have some weird taste on music but I mean I love Rhythm I love beat I love the vibration of it here's something you I don't know if you've heard this or not

I worked in a school district and I wanted to start listening to more current music. I found it to be repetitious and it lacked any kind of depth. I grew up listening t- Springsteen and the Rolling Stones. I really gave it a try but it just never did anything for me.

Most of it lacks imagination. Its all so derivitive and just... mass produced.

There is plenty of remarkable and spectacular music out there but it gets overshadowed by basic boring stuff.

Music is supposed to be art. Not a product on an assembly line

It is very plastic and without depth for the most part... I have moved to talk radio when I am traveling in car...

I couldn't tell ya, I don't really listen to much of the top 40 anymore, I prefer indie music most of the time.
