Why do you think "kidults" are on the rise and do you think it's normal?

I've attached a article above explaining more about the term "kidult" but I doubt half the people who comment will read and will just say "what's a kidult?" 🙄 But oh well... I myself still buy teddy's like squishmellows and I still play with Lego, NERF guns and Nintendo. I grew up in a upper working class family in the UK we weren't poor but we weren't rich. I got good toys and had a really good childhood if anything that the only time I didn't have real world issues to worry about and that's why I think it's on the rise for so many people who grew up in the 90s/early 2000s. It was so good back then, the food, the TV everything was so bright and colorful now I see kids being dressed head to toe in designer wear not being able to get there clothes dirty and ripped because it cost so much that's not what being a child is about. Some toys my parents wouldn't buy me because they were too expensive like Barbie, care bear, my little pony etc I'd always get my cusions and big stisters toys as I'm the baby of the family or it be a Poundland knock off but I was still just as grateful and loved to play with them toys just as much as I would if it was something on brand. Now I have my own money I can choose for myself what I buy and I find myself being drawn to wearing all cute stuff with Barbie, care bear, my little pony etc on because that's the stuff I dreamed of as a child and I think it's all so cute and fun. I get stupid comments off some people but most people get it and actually like my style. I think overall a lot of my generation are realising how depressing the real adult world is becoming and want to go back to relieve there childhood for abit of a escape and to bring back joy and fun in there lifes

Several of the museums (and related attractions) in Chicago had Mold-A-Rama plastic injection molding machines; you'd put two bucks in and it'd make a little plastic souvenir thing for you (and the covering was transparent plastic, so you could see the inner workings, which was the cool part). When we'd go to those places (which was at least a few times a year when I was a kid; we had memberships at several), I'd always want one, but Mom would always tell me no; it was too much money. Well, after she died, I happened to be at the Field Museum on a free admission day, and noticed that they still had those machines, and they were STILL only two bucks, and decided I'd make it a quest to get ALL of them, since Mom wasn't around to stop me anymore (grief and love can express themselves in odd ways). The day before the next big free day (which was the Field, the Adler Planetarium, and Museum of Science and Industry, which are all near each other), I went to the bank and got sixty dollars worth of singles, just to make sure I had enough for ALL of them. Walking out, I realized that the teller probably thought I was bound for the strip club, and likely wouldn't've believed the truth even if I'd told her.

It was the later Gen Xers, I think, who really embraced that the idea that growing older doesn't mean abandoning what you love, but it took the younger Millennials to really demonstrate it, since so many of them don't have kids limiting the time or money they have to spend on their hobbies.

I think there’s so much woke in the entertainment industry people probably miss the old entertainment when it was just about enjoying not some secret agenda someone is trying to push. Mind you the article comes from December so I’m not sure how accurate it is, since it’s around Christmas which means people might send things back afterwards, but for arguments sake I’ll just say it’s true.

People can LOVE anything.

What people DO is a different story.

What must be done will never change unless it’s changed lol

If the world was complete bliss, I’d still say loving those things is not an issue.

Toys, model kits, legos, games, books, movies, tv, and other forms of entertainment have always been for everyone.

The only reason anyone thought it was "just for kids" is because they grew up without actual fun, and so they became a boring person who thinks anything fun is a waste of time.

Well growing up as a broke kids, we often heard things like “you can buy that when you got your own money”. Now we’re making big kid money and want to spend it on the shit we wanted as kids but couldn’t have.🤷🏻‍♂️
