Do you think only old movie stars matter to movie goers?

I found this interesting article about why now it seems that only old stars are the ones who can draw attention to movie goers and yes those old movie stars are getting older and some still act sure but still some of them act much better then the new generation of actors and actresses.

The new generation of movie stars the ones below 30 years old, or young movie stars still in their early or middle 30`s or new actors still in theri 40`s but they had became the new Hollywood stars for the past lets say 5 years (Pedro Pascal , Oscar Issac, etc) attract more millenials and this audience perhaps are not very aware that exist much bigger stars than Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya, Ana de Armas, Timothy Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Jenna Ortega, Anya Taylor Joy, just to name a few who exist and I had not even heard before.

For real now there are not such good actors like many years ago. Ohh I miss Sharon Stone, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kim Basinger, Daniel Day Lewis, among others of that generation of movie stars.

In these two articles, movies studios are asking themselves about that and you can find a list of actors/actresses people will go to the theaters to watch and studios are thinking if some of the new generation really can draw the attention and millions in order to go to the movie to watch that movie star, for example Can Zendaya even if she is famous and popular star, draw millions of movie goes around the globe to go and watch her on a movie theater and can open a movie? Ot Can Ana de Armas do the same? or Which Chris, if any Chris, actually puts butts in seats these days?

There are a couple of reasons why these actors aren't seen as big stars like previous generations.

1. These younger actors are all on social media and all of their business and politics are aired out publicly. This divides fan bases and it removes any mystery. Previous generations of stars kept their personal lives private for the most part, and maintained some mystery, and so they appealed to a much larger fan base, including across generations.

2. Far too many of the projects these actors appear in are terrible, not necessarily because of the actors, but because the writers, directors, and producers care far more about pushing a divisive political position than they are about making a good movie or TV show. This taints the legacy of the actors that are involved in these projects, even if they don't agree with the political agenda (but especially when they do).

People don't always protest in the streets when they don't like something - most people simply vote with their eyes and their wallets. They don't go to movies or watch the TV show, and they especially don't buy the merchandise. All of that diminishes the status of the actors, which reduces their artistic reach as well as their earnings potential.

Kid Rock said that we would be surprised how many people in show biz were conservatives. They are just too afraid to say so because they will get cancelled.

yes, I don't even know who most of the new generation of actors are. I have seen Tom Hanks' kids, John Ritters' kids, Dennis Quaid's son, Kurt Russel's son, Quincy Jones; daughter, Clint Eastwood's son. and James Caan;s son. That is how i know who they are.

Exactly but the new young actors I dont even knwo their names. We know the children of those old actors but we hardly knw the new genearation of actors. Liek tehre is one I keep hearing all the tiem but I never knew she was an actress one called Sydney Sweeny, I dont even know also that Lisa Marie Presly daughter was an actress, Aubrey Plaza I heard of that one and I never heard or read about her before. I mean do they act well?

I'm not gonna lie, I don't recognise any of the old actor names you mentioned, but there are still old actors who have star power like Brian Cranston, Tom Hanks, Samuel L Jackson.

Younger generations of movie stars do nto know how to act. Now there are no actors like before

It's because nobody knows who they are and thats because people don't watch tv anymore. Us oldies were all force fed movies with the same group of actors for years so we learnt who they were and chose our favourites. If we weren't watching television, we were going to the actual cinema or renting physical copies of movies with box art telling us all the info.

Theae days, people can just choose whatever they want to with streaming services. It's so easy to just forget the name of a movie due to the overwhelming amount of choice.

The more modern actors are largely forgettable. The movies that come out now have no staying power, much like most modern music.
