It won't really make sense to most people but I significantly optimized many engines explaining how to build a radix-sorting ECS in response to very dynamic situations without the need for expensive precomputations. A lot of games a using this now that are on the particularly dynamic side.

I think a lot of game programmers these days get overwhelmed by the enormous hardware power we have and the competition and want to make everything perfect. I'm old school programming back in 6502 days of arcade cabinets and one piece of advice I tend to offer is that you don't have to think so perfectly; just get it running fast and smooth with stable consumption of memory.
