Why some people treat k-pop listeners like we're idiots?

I love k-pop for its catchy tunes and amazing choreography but whenever I tell someone I listen to it they just roll their eyes and I see a lot of memes making fun of k-pop listeners on social media. PLUS what's even more ridiculous is that some dudes refuse to date girls just because they listen to k-pop! Can you believe that? That's so shallow!

No not at all. I just dont like the cult like nature of the kpop community where people start stalking the singers and know every kitty gritty details about them it turns weird other than that i dont see why someone would think u r a idiot. I like Some kpop songs myself like nude, and lets kill this love.

People just like to have reasons to look down on others. and when you're different it's just easy for them. But I honestly don't really care I'm came to this new place in December and I told people I listen to Kpop and nobody said anything negative maybe it's just because I'm more sure of myself now or I don't know. But even when people said something I didn't really care because I had a better time being alone anyway :)

GenXers lived through our fair share of boy band clones. I personally do not support the K-pop fad because their handlers are abusive to the stars. They have some pretty high suicide rates.

My honest opinion on why I think listeners to K pop are seen this way is because not only is it really not out of this world but considering that it's most likely not understood by the listener, it makes them look like they are just dickriding the trend of k pop, not to mention that they probably also look like they are just drooling over Korean guys and that might be the only reason they listen to It, I don't hate of the people that listen to this but I don't see why this is popular in the US lol
