I'm writing a book. The subject of this book is an event that happened to me. People who listen to this event say it's very interesting (the main themes in the story are love, betrayal, black and white race conflict and prison sentence) There is a famous Turkish writer (Elif şafak). My friend told me "wth! If you tell this event to elif şafak, she could publish a book series consisting of 2 books!" So we laughed together. Then she said: "wait, why don't you try to publish your own book?"
I said since people don't know me, they wouldn't read it. And she said "and nobody knew Ms. Elif until she published her books" and she encouraged me to write this book. I started writing in a notebook. She told me to post on sites like wattpad. I'm still undecided. After all for the book to reach a reputation it must be read on this site first. If I decide to publish it how do I get this book to be read a lot? And do you guys really think I should publish it?
And maybe people will find it more interesting since its a real story.

Wattpad can definitely help get your foot in the door to garner some reputation. Going through a publishing house is more traditional but I would recommend doing so with a literary agent to back you up. You’re a first-time writer with no connections or reputation, most publishing houses would take your book and put it in what’s known as “the slush pile” where books from authors just like you are put away until someone can read them and decide if it’s good or not. The problem with doing this is it can take months, if not up to a year, before someone reads your book and decided to accept or reject it and you can’t submit it to multiple places at the same time. Most modern writers choose the self-publishing route through amazon and end up spending a lot of time and energy advertising their books on their own socials. If you want a profit, that’s what you’ll need to do too. If you just want to publish it, then that’s probably the easiest way to go about it.
