Hey so I just published my first short story and was thinking about making it a free book to read for the first week or so what do you think should I?

I'm not telling anyone to read it or anything just wondering if I should make it free at least for a little while

You could. It's a good way to get your work out there and let people know you're a writer. You could also make a book of short storiesz and ad it to a collection. I did that with my short stories. I've written 3 anthology collections before I started my novel series. I'm just too afraid to publish because of anxiety.

Writing. com is a great place to show your stories also. But yeah, you could make it free for the first week because later on when you publish other works, people will know some of your writing. And you've showed bravery just by publishing something, so you're already getting out there as an author.

Just because I published it doesn't mean it's any good though and I honestly don't think anyone is going to read it honestly

I feel the same way about my books. I think every writer feels that way. Not everyone is going to like your stories, but some will. Everyone has different tastes. There are people that hate the Twilight series.

I'm afraid to publish my work because I have the same fear, but I know not every person will hate it. You could join some Facebook writing groups also, and submit samples of your writing. Those little voices people get in their heads that tell you you're not good enough, I always tell them to shut up. Self confidence is all it takes.

Yah I just finished writing a different short story so I need to get the spelling and grammar fixed then it's ready to publish

Holy fiddle sticks nice. Maybe this first should be free so people are more open and likely to see what you can cook and if they like what they eat then the chances of them buying a future product are higher.

I'd keep this as a paid thing. Should you write a series, however, it's a good idea to make the first one free.

Thanks this isn't my normal style of writing to begin with mostly becuse I never tried to write anything love related despite that being the kind of books I love to read. so it's just something I wanted to try doing to see if I could I'm excited to have a different short story that should published in the next 2 weeks or so because it's one I started a long time ago and finally finished it

It sounds really interesting. You could make it free but if it is as good as it sounds I'm not sure if you should.

Maybe you should put it on Wattpad and see how it does on that platform. It will show how good it is based on the people who like it. I have put my work on there.
