Do I rebuy the things I like/love after moving out?

So since I was raised by my father most things I like and pastimes are basically things he likes. I'm still debating whether or not to keeps with borrowing things every so often from his, or to actually buy my own physical copies of things he owns. For reference he has a film collection coming up to 1000 and a good 200 odd games spanning 12 consoles and probably about 200 CDs too. For as long as I can remember he's had an open door policy on anything he owns, and I've always simply popped into his room to grab something to watch or play. (Obviously I wasn't allowed to touch the 18s till I was older).

The things I'm considering buying for myself is things I've always had open access policy to in the past, such as Stargate SG-1, battle star Galactica both old and modern version, lord of the rings, Steven king movies, robin Williams movies, iron maiden, linkin park, Tina turner, queen, and a few more too.

For the cds I'm debating whether to buy some blanks and cases and rip them all or to simply buy my own copies. But for all the collections and box sets I'm not too sure on.

That's a bit morbid, I mean possibly but that's another 30/40 years yet at least, he still got a few years before he hits 50.

What I mean more so by this is collectors items tend to be kept in the family so yeah if u want to have or own them yourself crop them or but the normals but don't double dip and by the collectors if u would inherit them

I mean I'm thinking of doing that for the cds, but then they won't have the cover arts and I'm quite fond of those.

why waste your time and money on them?

Why would it be wasting, it'll be things I can enjoy and watch/listen to whenever I get the urge. It's not like games that's things that for the most part you play once and then wait for a year or more before playing again

There's nowhere I can travel to that only costs a few hundred quid and that's if I brought everything. Besides there isn't really a lot that I can do, I'm going to Butlins on the cheapest week and that's still around the 300 ballpark. It's fun and all but you're spending all that money on a few days or a week or two.

With movies, games and though not included in this question books the joy and appeal is endless and lasts more than once, oftentimes on replays you get hidden meanings or catch things that you didn't notice the first time and you love it even more.

guess it depends on your point of reference you can get a a tent free catch a bus for £25 and a campsite for £11 so for your £300 thats 6 trips away

A decent tent is about £40-100, then there's a gas stove for about 30-80, then you need a sleeping bag 20-40, possibly a sleeping mat. Then there's the food when you're there, normally food at the place is overpriced so even if you go the firepit option of £20, it's still going to be quite expensive. Then there's the pitching fees, the one I checked is 20 a night so that's 80 for 4, Vs the 120 I paid for an actual room with an ensuite instead of two showers for everyone. The 300 I paid includes food, room, activities and travel it might actually be closer to 280 and that's for 4 nights. Whereas camping looks like it'll cost 200 and that's without food and with the firepit option. And I still have to somehow carry all this for a week away I typically have a camping bag + a suitcase to fit everything in and I've got to try and roll all of that over fields and then set up after a few hours of travelling. Then I've got the fear of the only thing protecting me from strangers is a zip, even a standard crafting knife can cut the tent.

I'm not trying to bash but camping isn't always the easiest or cheapest thing to do.

dont know where your getting your costs from but u can do it a lot cheaper than that i can get decent tent free and stove free sleep bag ok new one but one off cost get food before u go or from supermarkt there so its same price as at home especially if u cook yourself sleeping mat free its a yoga mat £11 is easy to get as pitch and who ever hears of anyone going into your tent

I got the prices from Argos, you know you pay for things and then you get to keep them. I don't understand where you're getting everything for free from, you might be able to get cheap or free things from gumtree but not decent camping gear. As for the pitching fee that was from a random site about an hour away from where I live.

But most camp food involves tins, and when you've already got a suitcase and camping bag. That'll be quite tedious to move around. Sure it'll be okay if I drove, then I'll happily do camping but that's the reason I haven't done it. Plus while it'll be nice to go on walks if you go on activities that's going to cost a pretty penny too.

So overall it still works out the same price, since I paid about 50 for activities in Butlins -pottery, go karts, crazy golf, this dancing thing. Also bear in mind I've got a 4 yr old too, so I have to do all this with her in mind as well. So going many hours up north for a cheaper site isn't an option.

Yeah but I still don't get where you're getting everything for free from. I know you can get furniture for free or cheap but not actual things like camping gear.
