Why do most comedians suck?

I have to agree. I don't find the comedy of a lot of newer comedians to be particularly funny, clever or compelling. There's a ton of bland and downright pathetically cringe acts out there right now, and comedy is at an all-time low for talent in my opinion.

I also don't like how PC things have gotten within the realm of comedy either. To the point where it's watered down, and has even prevented comedians from touching certain topics in fear of getting cancelled. And I say that as someone who is left-leaning. I'm all for respecting other people, but FFS, people take themselves WAY too seriously these days and it's sucking the life out of life, and all we're left with is bland, uninteresting "comedy" because of it. It's almost like we've lost the ability to laugh at/about ourselves anymore and everything has just become way too serious, and if you ever DARE step outside the box that other people have created for you, you are seen as some sort of crime against humanity or something. All the constant social justice fighting and thought policing has become achingly tiresome.

People need to realize that comedy is not inherently some kind of "attack" against whatever perceived insensitivity someone has. In fact, comedy actually has a unique way of bonding people and bringing people together through our commonalities AND our differences, but only if you're not so suffocatingly hung up and self-righteous about every single minutiae of life that it prevents you from laughing together because you've taken every aspect of life SO seriously.

Honestly, everyone just needs to chill the f*** out and learn to laugh again. lol Life's not that god damn serious, people!

One of the challenges I have discovered with comedy is that it’s often a social situation. I can watched a comedic movie at home and not laugh once. But could be at a comedy club with a two drink minimum watching amateur comedians and laugh all night.

Because some are just trying to be relevant with the times, which makes them come off as fake and condescending. They don’t stay in their lane or it’s predictable and boring. (lots of the jokes don’t land). Some are stealing jokes & aren’t original. And a lot of the time they don’t have the charisma to articulate the story/punchline’s.

I LOVE a great laugh... which is why I focus on the ones I like and make me laugh... don't bother wasting my time criticizing others are not my type

The market is extremely saturated. A lot of people shifted from online videos and sports to the comedy world and haven’t mastered the craft enough. Their name draws but not the material they have. Also because of the saturation of people, the quality of what is being said is also very common. Same style of jokes being said by multiple people just in different setups. So the uniqueness is dying down

It's less about the jokes and more about the hype.  Take Amy Shummer, when she was a child she told everyone she wanted to be a comedian and they laughed. Nobody is laughing now.

There used to be a LOT of great ones in the `80's! I don't get to hear very many modern comedians but some of the few I've heard were pretty good.
