How would a guy feel if he met this girl he considered beautiful? What if they share the same interests like drumming, roller coasters, and books?

I'm writing a book, and I'm kind of stuck. So I've been trying to get an extra opinion on how my character would really feel about this girl.

They met about a week before their first date, and from his point of view he continues to find something new and intriguing about her. He is french American, and the girl he is interested in is black. His best friend actually went against this calling her skin and hair weird.

I need help moving on at this point, it's something that has been bugging me for a while. I've even thought of scrapping the book. But my mother says it's still salvageable, so now I need human ideas (I tried AI, it didn't seem real enough to me.) can anyone give some advice?

Guys always start of confused if they didn't expect to meet a beautiful girl in that situation. Then they would feel a sense of joy, then probably, quickly afterward, they would feel awkard.

Best of look with the book. It's hard to move from short story to a book.
