If you wrote a book where the hero was actually the villain the whole time, what would the last line be?

The last line would be...
As the chemical cocktail coursed through his veins, he let out one last gasp, and went still. Her revenge was final.
"What have I done?"
But a more interesting question would be what the villain would be. He'd be someone who saw how dysfunctional the world is, an idealist, so he does whatever he can to make the world a better place. He implements his ideas for a better world, carbon regulation to save us from the co2 nightmare, goes after people who make other peoples lives miserable, he unifies the world into one nation, he even ensures there is more equality than ever before in the world. Everything monitored by AI of course to ensure everything goes smoothly, and as far as he can tell he managed. Everything looks good, all the advisors are proud of him and the people are happy.
So he decides to take a vacation to enjoy his creation, he leaves and lives an anonymous life among the people. All is well, except when some of his new friends begin to trust him enough to share their trouble. The fact all they had before was taken from them when the equality movement started and they aren't allowed to own anything before. The fact what they own has no meaning to them, the fact that they are afraid to be punished and taken away when the algorithm considers them to be a cause of misery. They feel trapped in a society they can no longer escape from since it covers the world, they feel trapped that everything they do has to be justified on its co2 usage. They hate their lives and got their way of living taken away from them, but pretend everything is fine so they aren't causing misery for others, reporting everything is perfect in every evaluation.
"What have I done?" the former hero asks himself, knowing that if he were to try and fix things he to would be seen as someone causing misery. He had ensured that not even him could undo it so he would not turn corrupt over time, but what he had not forseen is that the ideology he was thought in school was not the correct one.
Well just know you're getting MHO
Now re-read the book, but this time know that the protagonist was really the villain, you were totally fooled.
that's why I trust no one, I know that people like me exist.
That was creative. I like it
If you always have that emotional wall up, you'll never fully trust someone or build a lasting bond. It's okay to love and lose. The worst thing you can do in life and never love at all. The love is so much more worth if you find it.
is never love at all***

Their saviour and now their destroyer stands on top of the dark pyramid as the moon collides with the earth.
"I'll see you around."
Cliff hangers are always best.
They say that you either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain. I did the latter.
You either die a hero or live to see yourself become a villain
You would need some sort of betrayal and if you wanted a second book you would need to actually introduce the real hero at the end of the book in a vague undefined manner which helps to establish your second book
"... and he sat,. cigar in hand, smiling from ear to ear, as he watched the world burn".
And the villain rode of into the sunset to live happily ever after.
the last line would be
...
I have to return some video tapes.
