I had the app long ago for half a day. I thought it was a time waster and too many people shaking their booty. I uninstalled it.
I don't care.

I think it sucks for you Americans. Lol happy Australian me 🙃 and I don't even use Tiktok. Lol 🤣😆 I'm an Instagram horse (I can't put the word here lol) as I love my ego 🤣 of selfies me 🙃😆 of me just vlogging my adventures or daily life of "look, city trip" or "look, me eating in public" or "look, i am at a cool mall" lol 😂😆 🛒🛍️ bliss. Anyways, sucks for you Yanks, poor souls without Tiktok, yet you'll enjoy Instagram and hopefully make Instagram so fetching again (lol like fetch, lol fetch mean girls lol ) lol 😂😆
You mean me or you?' yeah I'm grateful lucky myself, if I do say so myself, hooray for Satan 😈👌🏻😛
Thanks 🎉
You have a good week ahead
Apart from the fact that I live in Canada, not really, but TikTok should be monitored, especially to protect kids, but not banned.
One of the problems with the app is the Chinese used it to track where our military went and discovered secret locations. It also has harmful dares and trends which kill young people. It should be banned.
I disagree. Anyone dumb enough to try a trend that might lead to temporary harm, permanent harm or even death should probably be removed from the gene pool. There's already have an award for that, it's called The Darwin Awards. https://darwinawards.com/darwin/
The only way I've tiktok being used show military information is when someone posts a video of what they've seen. LOL There's no hidden codes in the app that can penetrate military level programs or military GPS. That's just bullshit. The real reason is that the USA can't control ALL the propaganda on the app.
@loveslongnails For the first portion of your comment, these are just children being children. Their brains are not fully formed which is why the courts and society treat them differently. Just children.
Your second point contradicts what sources said a few years back and that it did already happen. It’s not hard to do even if you have data from just the public carriers. It would be easy to zero in on an area.
What sources? All I see for sources is propaganda, like the supposed experts who testified in front of our US Congress but didn't produce any evidence and said "theoretically". A sophisticated hacker could use a standard GPS signal to track a device's movement if they had the proper codes, but I doubt soldiers are carrying phones with their GPS on, just like I know TikTok can't break military grade software or hardware anymore than FB can.
" Their brains are not fully formed which is why the courts and society treat them differently. Just children." Right... uh huh, although scientists believe your brain's not fully formed till you're about 25. However, if you're a woman, you can be violated at 12 and forced to carry to term even though your body isn't fully formed, yet you're concerned about dumb fads on social media?
If a fad is going around, kids will learn about it in school, through other kids word of mouth, or through the dozens and dozens of other social media problems from insta to snap to fb to bigo live. My comment was intended to be facetious, but at the same time pointing out that using the argument that "it protects kids" is bullshit.
Personally, I think they’ve all just been bought out by meta. Facebook absolutely sells just as much data to China as Bytedance gets from the app itself. I think what scares them is how vocal people are on tiktok about the government with open critiques and news sources young people trust more than the biased mainstream media, so now they’ve made a bill that makes it possible to not only ban tiktok but any app or website they deem “unsafe” which is just an infringement on our expression to free speech if you ask me.
No I don't care. It's one less distraction for people & life will go on and it will go on peacefully. And its a good way to get people to focus on real life and better themselves and their lives than wasting time on reel life.

I think it’s crazy that this is what our country is focused on. Out of all the issues we have..
Exactly!!! Like bro worry about the cost of living going down rather than a phuckin app! I think they are all up for reelection this year
I don't have it, so so far, it doesn't really affect me. I have thought about it off and on, but I use social media a little differently. Most of Facebook time is spent for my business pages, or responding to different friends news... so I don't post much socially.
Instagram - same thing. I mostly use it to follow web comic creators, as it has some cool photo (cartoon) posting options, but that's most of it.
I probably spend about seven hours a week, on FB, if that, and probably about less than half that time on Instagram. I probably wouldn't do much on Tik Tok, even if it wasn't notorious for data privacy violations, mental health concerns, misinformation, offensive content, etc. I'm already a bit cautious about Facebook, which has done a lot of that themselves.
I also think a lot of the videos are idiotic. My nephew (a kid) is obsessed, but can only really access it through reposts on Youtube. But he blasts that stuff for hours, and it gets annoying with the bad robo-voices and stupid stories with the dumbest plots that go no where. No, I deal with enough Tik Tok through him and the other things re-posted to other sites.
First I don't think websites should be banned. While some a malicious like TikTok, I think people should just choose to not use them. That said, if it were gone I wouldn't miss it because I don't use it, but still there is no reason to censor people. Furthermore, the bill that the Democrats tried to pass is basically a giant Nazi ban any and every website they want bill. It is an authoritarian power grab so they can shut down all decent and go back to censoring all opposition like a totalitarian dictatorship. Anyone that would vote for that bill is a tyrant. So even if you hate TikTok, you shouldn't support that bill. While this site is woke as shit, it's still not woke enough to survive that bill. This site would be shut down ASAP if they were granted the authority.
I've never used it. I went on it once because a bunch of young people told me to try it and I only found shit content. They said oh it's because the algorithm hasn't had enough time yet. I didn't care.
Anything worth watching will end up on youtube anyway. It's the same with livestreaming anything good happens they will post it on youtube there's no point in spending 8 hours watching one person for like 30 minutes of content max. Im honestly surprised how the same people who have no attention spans also like live streaming I don't know it's weird do they just have it in the background?
Honestly I still think vine had better content if I compare the compilation videos from back then to what tik tok is producing now. With dancing Asian girls tik tok is definitely better but with comedy and content that had some thought put into it vine was way ahead.
I don't know enough about it to have a strong opinion. But I will say that it bothers me and stinks of a slippery slope.
When China bans or limits US or other western social media, I'm against it. I find it hard to be against the US banning Chinese social media without having a good reason. In my mind the question is, do they have a legitimate reason? I don't know enough about it to know the answer to that. Is there really a legitimate reason, or is it xenophobic?
I do have a strong leaning though.
Tiktok isn't even owned by China. It's a group of investors that own that Tiktok.
TikTok will show you what you show an interest in and it has plenty of content for pretty much any niche. I like it better than any other app for wasting time watching short clips.
I have mixed feelings about getting rid of it. There's pros and cons, it's likely that if they want it gone it's either because they don't like that people can actually talk about some of the things going on in the world right now. I would argue it's better for news in some ways than even Twitter is now.
But it's also very obviously a place for anti America propaganda and maybe the CIA doesn't like how blurry the lines for that are on tiktok. Putin actually said it best, America is hard to beat at propaganda because we own all the media outlets. We have very little control over what happens on tiktok and for better or worse, we have our own propaganda plans which certainly are frustrated by that app.
I nominate this for 'best answer.' "TikTok will show you what you show an interest in." People that complain about all the boobs and butts they see on TT must spend all their time rewatching them.
oh i don't know how I would survive the day without my 500 videos of brain-dead females lip synching to random audio clips and dancing like they're preparing for a future in the strip club. Even the comment sections have turned everyone into sheep. "Slay, you're so real for that, iconic" are the words they've reduced our vocabulary down to.
I'd be embarrassed if my life revolved around that shit, like millions of them do. I use it for a quick masturbation session, and then go on to have a productive day. 😁
Yes, I do care. I think banning the app would be a terrible idea. Once you make something illegal or taboo, it instantly becomes "sexy" to young people. If we want to protect young minds from the harmful effects of the app, the worst thing we could possibly do is make using the app a rebellious thing to do.
It's the same idea as why Weed is so popular. Yeah, it's a fun thing to get high, and the plant has many medicinal effects but the real reason so many people smoke weed is that it's a relatively safe way to get the thrill of doing something you know you shouldn't do.
Guessing you don’t, & probably have never smoked any weed? I don’t know if anyone that smokes weed to be a rebel or just to do something they shouldn’t do. Drugs are really fun & make you feel really good. A lot of people use them fir an escape from their daily lives. This is why people do drugs.
@The_Reverend I smoke weed, I just wrote my point poorly. I'm talking about how teenagers get started in that sort of thing.
The point is more about the bullshit reasons legislators are propping up for getting rid of it. They are "concerned that an adversarial govt could use the platform to influence how US citizens think about their country, or spread misinformation".
Right. If THAT were true, they'd have banned Fox News after they admitted lying about the election. If THAT were true, they'd be all over FB & Meta for doing the same thing. What they're REALLY worried about is that TikTok creators often report news from a local and state level that people in power don't want you to know.
THAT'S what they're concerned about, and that's why yes, I do care. The people doing booty calls and selling content is irrelevant.
I agree that China is definitely collecting as much information on not just users in the United States, but many other countries as well.
If Facebook, Google, Apple, etc., or even the US government are spying on ordinary US citizens, you can bet China is too.
All them girls shaking their asses, and worse, think their passwords are protecting their accounts, don’t realize that many of them Chinamen hackers, have had access for quite awhile, and also happen to have built up calluses on on their kneecaps from simple rug burns.
I've never used TikTok. From what I hear, it has some ok stuff on it (funny videos, informational tutorials like a mini YouTube, etc.), but I've also heard of the problematic side where there are inappropriate things and young kids are using it. I know a lot of people that use it are pretty much addicted to it too. Like they'll just sit around and post/watch TikTok videos constantly.
If it gets banned, I'm not going to be unhappy. I won't be missing anything.
If we allow them to ban tiktok, they'll try to ban other stuff.
Could you imagine a world where something like league of legends or other game apps get banned because the US would say "to violent for our country"?
That's the reason why I see tiktok being banned is a big deal. Just another spin off of SOPA and protect ip crap from a few years ago...
You are an imbecile, then.
Whatever happened to "I may not agree with you, but I will fight for your right to say it?" Exactly you are full of shit, as you will only really "agree" when you are the owner, or interested party. But give lip service to hide your machinations.
The US cannot afford to buy TikTok, so is trying to steal it at a cheaper price instead.
I do care about it because in case people have forgotten that's where the hand sign for I need help came from and that one sign has helped save lives because I heard a story about a girl who was being kidnapped and she did that sign through the car window and someone recognized it and called the cops
One thing I am THOROUGHLY uninterested in is amateur entertainers, so TikTok just isn’t even a thing that exists in my world. Tired of every Tom, Dick, and Harry trying to get internet famous. Chances are, these people are nowhere near as funny/interesting/clever/good looking as they THINK they are, and I just simply have better things to do with time, which includes GAG, so that’s REALLY saying something, lmfao
There are so many products/online contents in the US produced and broadcasted out of China and here they are finding ways to ban TikTok. Its ridiculous!
Those who uses it will just get VPN and work their way around it. Others won’t care. In time there will be new similar apps out and take TikTok shares.
To be honest I hope it gets banned everywhere because I’m tired of how stupid and cringe people are getting and they make it seem normal when it’s actually not.. also it’s ruining my favourite songs.. I think when it gets banned the world will be in peace and normal again
I’m completely 50/50 on the issue. Typically I don’t like government interference in social media and usually when there is bipartisan consensus, the people drawing the short straw are the American people- ie: The Patriot Act.
But China is a problem and letting despots in the CCP have access to tens of millions of peoples phones in the US seems like a pretty dangerous situation.
I wanna know why this Q was stick/pinned to the top of my notifications. I don't even know the asker...
😂 Such a weird glitch. I don't even use tiktok lol
I don't use TikTok and have no plans to, but I think it's a VERY bad precedent if the gov starts banning social media companies.
Trump threatened to pull the licenses of media that doesn't cover him favorably. Imagine what he and the GOP would do if he is elected, and they control congress.
