i wrote every single book down in my notebook that i carry around and talk to people with and i think i have enough reading material for the next year so far ☺️😂❤️😂
I have never really gelled with mystery and thriller books, however Agatha Christie are pretty much classics.
Something different and putting your toe into fantasy, Terry Pratchett, an amazing brilliant writer, he writes about this world called Disc World and it is fantasy with a huge chunk of humour lobbed into the mix.

A couple of other good books are:
Magician by Raymond E Feist.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/43916.Magician
Belgariad by David Eddings
https://www.goodreads.com/series/40739-the-belgariad
All are very easy to get into and are fun to read, the writing style is great.
Then you can move into the books of https://ilona-andrews.com and her Kate Daniel’s series https://ilona-andrews.com/katie-daniels-books/
i’ll definitely try fantasy and see if i like it as much as mystery and thriller ☺️ and humour might be funny too ☺️
@strawberrypancake I can really recommend Terry Pratchett
Fantasy is a way different genre and I bet you will enjoy it. I also really find autobiographies inspirational.
Since you're 13, I'd recommend the Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan. It starts off fantasy, but moves into more realistic, almost historical-type fantasy by the third book. You can tell that Araluen is a fantasy version of England, Gallica is France, Hibernia is Ireland, Picta is Scotland, Celtica is Wales, etc. They also move into eastern countries in later books, which is awesome.
The Ruins of Gorlan
The Burning Bridge
The Icebound Land
The Battle for Skandia / Oakleaf Bearers
The Sorcerer of the North / The Sorcerer in the North
The Siege of Macindaw
Erak's Ransom
The Kings of Clonmel
Halt's Peril
The Lost Stories
The Emperor of Nihon-Ja
It's neat because each book addresses common challenges that teens face, like bullying, drugs, crushes, etc. He wrote the books for his son, and then published them. I'd say it's a great series for teens and a fun read. I still like reading them as an adult because the characters and writing is so enjoyable. And the best part is that they are finally moving forward with films!
My favorite Fantasy/Mystery book is called Ladies of the Secret Circus. It’s about this woman whose fiancé goes missing and she finds out that this has happened to generations of women in her family.
While reading this book, we also get to learn about a demon who runs a circus version of Hell and his offspring.
The summary is this:
“In the 1920s, a woman named Cecile is part of a wondrous family circus with a magical secret. A love affair might set her free but could also cost her everything. In the 2000s, Lara, a descendant of that same family, prepares for her wedding day and is shaken to her core when her fiancé goes missing.”
ooh! i’m already interested in it after reading your description ☺️😂 it feels a bit like a spooky book too lol
Try The Winter of our Discontent by John Steinbeck, or pretty much anything by him. Then there is Sidney Sheldon. With Sheldon I would start with Bloodline. He has about 15 or more.
i have seen John Steinbeck before and some teachers tell me that he’s amazing so i’ll add that to my list for sure ☺️

Have you read anything from Benjamin Stevenson? He makes contemporary mystery novels and gets really subversive with the whodunit angle. I recommend the series "Everyone in my family has killed someone" and "Everyone on this train is a suspect".
It's definitely fiction made for writers though, so I'm sure readers don't get as much out of it as I do lol
i haven’t read anything from him but that does sound really interesting ☺️ even if it’s made for writers i think most stuff is worth a try for sure ☺️
karen rose for crime mystery if you can deal with sex scenes XD
some of my favourites are "you belong to me" and the ones in this photo.
😂 i don’t think i’ve ever read a book with sex scenes in it but i’ll give it a try for sure at least ☺️
i feel like books are worth trying because if you don’t try then you don’t really know what you’re missing on lol
The Hunger Games series... books much better than the movie.
i actually read the hunger games series! ☺️ i totally agree though! the books were WAY better than the movies because they went into more detail and actually made you feel for characters like Rue and Prim
i feel like Peeta and Katniss relationship was better in the books too and the movies didn’t really show that much
Run baby run the Nicky Cruz story , a former gang member in New York turn Christian. I wrote him twice and he wrote me back
wow that’s a cool story! was he nice to you?
that’s nice ☺️ maybe i’ll take a look at that book
Niki Cruz from Teen Challenge? Ex gang banger? Cult?
Cult.
Try buy the book the green mile :) its really good I heard and the movie off it was amazing a real blockbuster :D
i actually watched the movie with my dad and the movie was so good but so sad ❤️😭 i’ll definitely read the book sometime soon too
I'm a grown man it brings tears to my eyes 👀
aww 🥺 watching the movie made me cry too 😭❤️ i felt so much pain in my heart at the ending
They're all such great characters too :)
Rereading the Hobbit and Lotr trilogy right now, always my first recommendation to people.
i’ll definitely put that on my list to read ☺️ i know some people that love lord of the rings too
You won't regret it!
Fiction: “Fight Club” by Chuck Palahniuk
Nonfiction: “Being Wrong” by Kathryn Schultz
I am reading "Uncertainty " by Maggie Jackson. It is okay but not as good as her last book which was called
"Distracted."
"The Real Animal House" / Chris Miller.
@FunkyMonkee My Monkee Man! How surprising of you to make such a recommendation lol Good to see you out and about…I am heading to the Mulberry Grove but, alas, I cannot tag you bc you have not returned my dear IT to me. Is the kid still napping?
@Caroline91 Well, it's one the best books I've read. I've got all of Chris's stories and love all of them! A few years ago, he sent me the first one he ever wrote for Screw magazine.
Thank you! Sorry I haven't been here the past few days, I've just had too many other things to deal with.
You're still worried about that damn IT? Can't you get along without IT? IT's NOT the end of the world, you know.
The kid? Moi?
As in Kidapped... My IT. Funny, I just DMed you before I saw this. lol
*kidnapped
When I accused you of keeping my IT for ransom and you said to let the kid nap... I don't know if it is yours or not... how would I know?
And of course I am still worried about that "damn IT"... IT is my one and only...
@Caroline91 Oh! sorry. I forgot all about that.
I'm sure IT's around here somewhere.
Well, I have finally given up on IT!!
@Caroline91 Okay, okay!! I'll give ITT back!!
