It's not just that music has changed... Technology has changed. And even if Musicians would make music with exactly the same equipment and all, it still wouldn't be the same because there is no 'Nostalgia' attached to that music.
It is the No 1 reason why I hate remakes/ remasters... not just in music, but also movies and games.
Hollywood has dried up regarding ideas and stopped daring to be innovative a long time ago (I don't have any issues with a Black Mermaid, but make a new story... don't just copy/ paste an existing story); but the constant remakes, remasters, prequels and sequels of movies which used to be a massive success is becoming exhausting. It's all about Profit and no longer about 'Art' and 'Entertainment'.
A 'Neverending Story' remake is never going to be the same as the original and won't have the same impact (at least not on me); the 2021 Dune movie doesn't get anywhere close to the 1984 version; etc.
I wouldn't count on it unless the kiddie winkies that are coming up next get really tired of the shit being made today and decide to go back to actually making real music, again. But, if they do, I got a feeling they're gonna go back to the late `60's!!
It sucks that, in the `60's, we had limited recording technology yet, we made some of the most incredible music ever made!! The biggest reason we stopped was because we didn't have the tech to perform it, live!! So, everybody went acoustic for a few years. Well, ever since the early `80's, and especially now, we've HAD the tech to do it live but almost NOBODY'S doing it!!
When we WANTED the tech, we made incredible music without it! When we finally HAD the tech, nobody's bothered to use it!
It's like my friend, Carla. All her life, she wanted to be a woman! And, when she FINALLY got the sex change, she decided to remain a virgin!! As far as I know, she died a virgin.
Well, you know they say there’s nothing new under the sun and if you think about it a lot of the artist nowadays sample from back then there’s not a lot of originality nowadays so Fashion is a cycle. This music may be a cycle. I’m here for R&B to be slower and patient and actually real love lyrics, and I’m here for rap to actually have meaningful lyrics. I’m here for things to make sense. I feel like I was born in the wrong era of music, but would I be able to handle what was happening back then versus where I am now
Oh, absolutely! 🌟 Music trends often come full circle, kind of like fashion. We've already seen a resurgence of 80s synth-pop vibes in modern music, with artists like The Weeknd and Dua Lipa embracing those retro sounds. The 70s' disco and funk elements have also made a comeback in tracks by artists like Daft Punk and Bruno Mars.
Nostalgia plays a huge role in shaping new music, and producers often look to the past for inspiration. Plus, with technology advancing, artists can blend these classic vibes with modern production techniques to create something fresh yet familiar. So, it's definitely possible we'll continue to see music that reminds us of those groovy decades! 🎶✨

Music is largely driven by technology. In the 60's that was a clean electric guitar, in the 70's it was the wah-wah pedal, today it's some rando jerkoff spasming over a keyboard (and not the cool kind either), coming up with yet another shitty remix of what was once a song. Rick Beato had a video talking about how instruments are programed rather than played nowadays. Everything is made quickly, cheaply and nothing is artistic. And I highly doubt things will change soon.
Music industry wants efficiency & short term success in repetitive, simple, basic beats with amazing vocalists at the expense of the writers, producers, singers, lyrics, variety, flexibility, etc.
If it does go back to 70s/80s vibes it is due to it being basic / watered down from what came before.
In the century of ''copy-and-paste'' this is quite likely.
I've been around for a while - and I noticed that since ''recently'' creativity and imagination go down the drain.
Like cows do it - things get chewed over again and again only.
Everyone likes to think that their era and their music is irreproducible. The fact is there are only about 3% of notes that can be arranged in a pleasing pattern to humans and the rest are all discordant and chaos. That being said, you will have the same instrumentals at its core over and over again. The lyrics? They haven't changed in forever The issues are timeless. So to answer your question yes there will be remnants of every era in the future
No, old is considered bad n "so yesterday."
In 2007 musso remade "lean on me" but changed the style.
Now the most popular is rap, so people can prove "i am not racist kuz i say rap is best".
I don’t think disco is coming back. I think pop will always be around and Rap, but the quality has gone down. There’s nothing more to make. It’s all played out and they keep making remakes just like the movies do
there will never be another decade like the 70s. We are living in a different world.
No, music with actual instruments will never be as popular in the future as it was back then. Rap and pop/boy bands/girl bands are here to stay a force
Never back then it took talent to get ahead
Now it's manufactured imagery
Anything is possible. It's said fads come and go. To repeat from a natural flow could bring about some of the best music ever recorded.
Yes. Life goes in cycles. It takes many years but everything will eventually repeat itself.
Maybe, I mostly like 80's and 90', but 70's are ok too.
extremely unlikely. cause the way we consume music changed so fundamentally.
Dubious.
