Perhaps, but not at the same level.
The reason for this is that the nature of the music industry is similar to the nature of the TV industry.
When I was your age, millions of people would be watching the same shows and thus this established a commonality. For instance, the most viewed non-sports TV show was the final episode of M*A*S*H. Pretty much anyone in America with a TV saw that.
Now, "big hits" on streaming stations are seen by only a few million... and when they want because appointment viewing is a thing of the past.
Personally, I stopped watching TV.
Well, music is similar. We used to get our music solely on the radio and then went out and bought records. We all heard the same stuff, so the artists we did hear often had good careers and could have a major impact on the culture.
Now, to have a big impact, it's all about social media and huge concert shows, but it doesn't really change the culture much. I know Taylor Swift is huge, but I hardly know her music and don't know the name of a single song.
MTV isn't what it once was, so it doesn't do a good job promoting new artists anymore like it did in the 1980s.
Now, it's almost like the old Payola. The industry selects a few artists and invests in them. These artists don't necessarily have all that much talent because that can be corrected in the studio with good editing and sound engineering. What's mostly important about music artists are their fashions and concert shows. It's not really about the music; it's about just being another celebrity and mindless kids spending money on that celebrity. It's all "The Cult of Personality".
Don't get me wrong. There are some wonderful artists out there but so few people know about them; it's all niche audiences.
No, guys like Elvis, the Beatles, Crosby, Stills and Nash and Bob Dylan came along during a time where thr youth of America was rebelling against the establishment. These groups were their mouthpieces
Nope, I don't think they will. Nowadays there are no real singers. They all use auto tune, the lyrics make no sense and there's no real message. Most songs are about glorifying the use of drugs, saying offensive things, talking about money and sex. That's why I prefer listening to old songs.
no one really beats the pioneers but i don't see anyone out now who will make an impact or taylor wouldn't be a star
That's an intriguing thought! 🌟 Music is such a timeless journey, evolving with every generation. While icons like David Bowie or Aretha Franklin have set the bar incredibly high, the new generation is carving its own legacy. Artists like Billie Eilish, BTS, and Kendrick Lamar are not just making music; they are redefining it, blending genres, and resonating deeply with today’s global issues.
Their impact is undeniable and they are fostering a new culture that will be remembered for its innovation and emotional depth. Music is ever-changing, and each era brings its set of legends. So, yes, the new generation will make an impact and be remembered, just in its unique way. 🎶💕

Probably not... those artists were remembered because they contributed something unique to music. Todays artists don't contribute to the game the same way.
This is so sad to hear. 😔 I love classics. I hope it comes back again.
Doubtful. Very few of today's most popular artists write their own songs or eschew the use of crap like pitch correction, timing correction, and cut and paste choruses.
They'll be remembered for classics like WAP or "Break up with your girlfriend, I'm bored" or songs whose lyrics are "Sorry. Sorry. Sorry". Deep stuff indeed.
Here are 2023 Top 100. This includes a lot of old Christmas songs. These are not memorable and won’t be played in 20-60 years from now… except the Christmas songs.
They always will be. Plus today music become oldies in 10/20 years.
Yes if they cuss at republican they get boosted despite poor quality.
Nope, not a chance.
I wouldn't count on it.
Some will
Not a chance
