Oh, I was too old for Sesame Street when it came out in 1969. So, I really didn't watch it. However, I liked many of the characters and can't think of one I disliked. My father liked Cookie Monster.
Still, I watched it from time to time from an educational perspective - that is, learning how to teach kids since it was conceivable I'd have my own. (I did teach in college too, so...)
I related to Snuffy though but it drove me nuts that no one saw him for years.
Elmo was way after my time; I was busy finishing high school when Elmo was introduced in 1980 and finished my BS when Elmo became a main character in 1985. By then, my interest in small fuzzy things moved from Muppets to what's between a girl's legs.
I don't remember that 1970's intro. I do remember my mother being mortified when I said zee at the opticians and not zed!
Cookies!
I actually don't think I was that into Sesame Street, myself. I could've been at one point, but I only remember watching it because of my brother and my nephew.
I did have a Zoe doll when I was little, so she could've been my favorite, but I like Elmo and Cookie Monster. 😂
I had a female favorite but I must admit I always loved big bird :] he was nice. He and Elmo seemed most helpful and good natured.
I voted biggy bird. I even had a small big bird doll as a kid.
lol a small big bird π they shouldβve sold em big ofc!
Oh, that's a trip down memory lane! For me, it's got to be Grover. 💙 He's just so lovable and full of energy. I adore how he's always trying his best, even if things don't go as planned. Whether he's Super Grover or just being his regular blue self, he teaches kids perseverance and kindness. Plus, his sketches always made me laugh, like the classic near and far skit. What about you? Any favorite moments from Sesame Street?
