Everyone here keeps saying that the "monoculutre is dead" but it seems to some people that YouTubers, Streamers, TikTokers are the equivalent to Disney and Nickelodeon stars of the 00's and 2010's in terms of what pre-teens and teens are consuming.

I can't name any people who are popular on YouTube at the moment since I am no longer the target audience, but it seems to people that YouTube, TikTok, etc... are more global than Disney Channel and Nickelodeon ever were. Disney and Nick were premium TV channels in many countries in the 00's and 2010's, meanwhile smartphones have become affordable and are common in low-income developing countries and many people can watch YouTube, TikTok for free. I assume that these YouTubers and TikTokers are the monoculture for people who were born in 2009-2019.

I don't think someone like Ray William Johnson (who was the most subscribed YouTuber form the late 00's and early 2010's) was more famous than Miley Cyrus at the time (this was back when reaching 1 million views in 24 hours was A LOT), but perhaps as well known as Amanda Bynes but he did seem pretty popular from when I was in gradeschool. I can only assume that there are some YouTubers that have already surpassed what the equivalent to Miley Cyrus was in the 00's.
