I'm thinking along the lines of a fantasy epic I've had in mind for some years about two young couples and a fifth wheel friend who escape their hometown during an enemy attack. They have been sent to gather reinforcements from a nearby city. Each character will have their own powers and abilities, or not. I'm aiming for something more along the lines of the Wheel of Time, to be honest.

There were several comic book series that I can remember. There was a 3 issue story of Galactus Vs. The Fantastic Four which was turned into a movie. The 3 issue Cold War classic, Iron Man vs. Titanium Man and this classic tale of Captain America fighting the Red Skull's sleeper bombs.

They don't make comics like this anymore.
