I miss the good writing that maybe 40% of movies had (it's maybe 5-10% today), and I definitely miss the sense of humor that people used to have before 2010 when everything became the victim Olympics and a good chunk of the population was suddenly offended by everything (even though they were usually worse themselves in their own lives).

Comedies virtually don't exist anymore, and the ones that do aren't funny. Romantic movies also no longer exist, unless it's interracial or "alternative gender" because that's the only thing Hollywood has allowed for the last decade or so. My girlfriend hates modern "romantic" movies because she doesn't find soy boys attractive.

DEI drove away so many of the people with real talent, especially writers but also directors and others behind the scenes, and the audience wasn't fooled - they rejected the wokeness and movie revenue is way down. Compared to 2015, before the big rise of DEI, the actual number of tickets sold is about half today, which is a better measure than unadjusted dollars.

The good news is that some of the actual talent are getting rehired, but much of it is permanently lost because no one could just put their career on hold for a decade.

There were always SOME political movies, but since 2016, nearly everything became political at every level, and the result is that Hollywood is a shell of its former self, and productions in California are down by 2/3 and still dropping.

I do a lot. I was born in early 90s, so I grew up watching many 90s and 2000s movies and shows (also movies older than that). Those were the golden years. So many great stories and characters. Many were entertaining. Many had stories with depth and taught you some things about life. Many were heartwarming and the chemistry between the actors was soooo good it made you believe that they were actually lovers/enemies 😂

It's so difficult to pick just one when I could name at least 50 movies that I've watched over and over again. Sadly, I can't say the same thing about the movies that were made in the last 15 years. I rarely watch new movies. Very few of them are really good and worth watching it again.

i feel like so many movies are forced on us to be popular and have this grandiose thing with a huge budget, but the story suffers bc of it

i like it when a movie is kinda more "indie" where its concept is simpler or just fun. like you wouldn't see something like breakfast club today

Personally, probably because of my age, my favorite movies were from the 50's and 60's.
I my favorite one's were the very romantic war movies. 🎬 Even if they weren't romantic, I still loved war movies.
I remember having a 3 day Memorial Day weekend in 1974 and laying in bed all day with a friend who was staying with me just watching all those old war movies, because that's all that was on TV.
I believe that I married a guy who was in the U. S. Navy because I loved war movies so much.
I was a dreamer and wanted to marry a Captain or Commander and be a stay at home Mom and live the military life.

There are a lot of movies from that period that qualify. Giving a list would take too long. But in general, I miss actors who, by their sheer presence, are able to carry the story to a very high level.

I've seen too many movies where special effects take on the lead role. These are great when we're talking about visual effects to create realistic or fantastical worlds. But this should not detract from the story being told and the feelings the director wants to convey to viewers. In many cases, less is more.

Yeah, I miss them and earlier because the storys really suck now with no originality and too many of them are afraid to joke around with stereotypes because of the woke generation and sensitive people all of a sudden so now you can’t even watch a funny movie , I hardly watch any new movies? I usually watch stuff from the 80s 90s and early 2000s

"Love and other drugs" was right on 2010 BEAUTIFUL MOVIE..

"Saving private Ryan" great 1998 if I remember correctly

"Menace to society" 1993

And many more that I can't really remember by title of the movie, but overall I'm more attached to the times of when I watched it for the first time than anything else now one I would definitely rewatch one day is love and other drugs..

No, I don't miss any of them. If I want to watch any of them, they are all available, in some way, on my home TV screen... streaming services or DVD.

I often rewatch movies from the 1990-2010 era, and before, too many to mention.
