I haven't seen it but I've read a review of the book. All of the "science" is hilariously bad. This really belongs in the fantasy category, not science fiction. I don't think I could get past the plot holes and bad science to make it through the book or the movie. Maybe if I can think of it as a space fantasy / super hero story. Like a Marvel movie. Just shut off your brain and watch shit blow up and the pretty CGI graphics.
@OneViewpoint Here's an astrophysicist's review of the movie and the science, which she reports is actually quite plausible. for the most part.

LOL, what part of her saying the protagonist in the story, an astrophage virus that can eat stars, and she was laughing, squarely in the science fiction realm. Fiction not science. And it goes downhill from there. She goes on, "You have to concede that using neutrinos to store the suns energy is where the physics really starts to break down". The author laughs and sys he's really proud that "you have to dig down to the quantum level to see where I have my made up physics".
Did you even understand anything she was saying. Or the author's good humored admission that this was a fantasy and not science.
I'm undecided 😐
I may no go see it as parts of it look cringe - if not majority of it cringey
Only because of the current Moon 🌕 space thing Artemis II am I even remotely thinking on second thought that "i may go see the movie - just for the hell of it"
I don't normally care for space movies @AviatorTom - Mars Attacks or Satirical ones, they're funnier - Hitchhiker's Guide etc 2005
@nicholasofaustralia I didn't find any of it cringey. Deep down, it's a human interest story. You might enjoy it.
It was enjoyable and funny.
However moving to 11,3 ly far star would take a while even with acceleration close to 90% of light speed because a ship has to accelerate and to break. Even if due relativity time for people on board would flow slower but on earth it would last decades, not few years like in this movie.
Or I was just to much focused on my popcorn and coke as this was explained.
I saw it the second day it was released and I was entertained. It is long. My longest theory on how our earth is going to die off is because of something happening to our sun.
I loved Project Hail Mary 🛰️
I’d read Andy Weir’s book before, so I was really curious how they’d handle the science and the whole Rocky storyline on screen. The movie did a great job balancing nerdy details with emotional beats, and the casting felt spot-on. The friendship at the core really got me. Solid, rewatchable sci-fi for me 😄

I heard about it through word of mouth from my adult children. We went to see it in IMAX and enjoyed it. It isn’t necessary to see it in IMAX though.
I will watch it again when it comes to streaming services. I thought about going to see it again in the theater just because of boredom and the lack of good movies.
I have not seen it... I heard about it, I've wondered about it... maybe I'll end up watching it but I don't really know... we'll see... or we won't
no spoilers though... so I'm out of this post
Saw it. It had good surprises and decent scifi too. The star changed his face from Barbie's 'ken' to Boris in 007 film goldeneye! Very talented at various roles and decent story!
I haven’t seen it whats it About did you go with your wife to the movie Theaters and watch it?
@iron_manYes my wife and I saw it a a local movie theater. It's a sci-fi movie. The problem... The sun is dying and they've discovered that travel to another star can fix it.
I would liek ot see it. It is really the first movie in many years I would be interested in seeing.
I read te book before seeing the movie and the book is so much deeper and shows much greater humanity than the movie
I haven't been to a theatre to see a movie in at least ten years.
Haven’t seen it yet, but maybe I will since you seem to have liked it and I do like sci-fi
May watch it when it is on the streaming services.
I've not seen it yet. I would like to.
Never heard of it `til now.
Haven't seen it but i'm planning to
Definitely a good show.
Plan on seeing it this weekend.
