Does anyone watch Saturday Night Live?

Ok, so, like, I was totally surprised earlier to realize that Saturday Night Liveis almost twice as old as I am! 🤣

But that really has nothing to do with this question since we don't watch it and I don't actually know anyone personally who watches it but since it's getting close to Saturday Night I figured it might be a good question to ask since I couldn't really think of any other question to ask since I'm kind of in a hurry 'cuz I'm getting ready to go out drinking Live on this Saturday Night! Yay! 🥳 But I wanted to ask my daily question to feed my attention-seeking narcissism and please all my adoring fans and stuff. Which is what this question is really all about anyways.

And so I ask, Does anyone watch Saturday Night Live?

I do not watch TV anymore, but I often watch SNL skits once they are online. There are so many classics with new future-classics too.

Here's a classic SNL Weekend Update. Every Christmas, Weekend Update hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che do a joke swap; they write jokes for the other one to read for the first time live on the air. Now, this is the one from 2024 which made news because Scarlett Johansson was in attendance and she is married to Colin Jost. The jokes written about her are shockingly fun.

One of the most infamous, also from 40 years ago, was when William Shatner hosted. This was when Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home came out.

In the skit, Shatner is playing himself attending a Star Trek fan convention. Getting detailed annoying questions from hard-core Trekkies, he snaps and tells them to "Get a life!" Unfortunately, I cannot find the skit in its entirety on YouTube, but here is the Daily Motion version, but G@G auto-blocks those out, so you will need to reassemble the URL.

If NO ONE watched the program, advertisers would not pay for commercial tie slots, and the network would cancel the show. Since that hasn't happened, there must be a decent level of viewership, so. . . who is it that still watches SNL? I don't know, but it isn't me.

I remember watching it once or twice when I was in middle school. It was because a good band was going to be on but I usually fell asleep before they came on, so, that should tell you how exciting I found the show.

I still watch SNL, but not religiously like older generations did 😅 Mostly I catch the best sketches on YouTube the next day. Weekend Update, political skits, and when there’s a musical guest I love, I’ll watch the full episode live.

It’s definitely not as sharp as its golden eras, but every season has a few iconic sketches that remind me why it’s still around. Happy Saturday and enjoy your drinks 🥂🎉

Never seen it because not in US. We had Hey Hey It's Saturday instead which featured a stuffed Ostrich. It only ran for 30 years and finished when the voice for Ossie the Ostrich retired.

I remember Saturday Night Live being on when I was a kid and my parents loving it. About seven years ago I realized it was still on, but it wasn’t funny at all. This shit was painfully not funny to the point it was pathetic to watch
