The Greatest Gift

Whatever your beliefs are, I wanted to share a thought I had. I believe the most significant present, or gift, we can offer someone is our presence.

Being present means being there mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually in devotion to someone else, a stranger or loved one.

Whose lives have you been present in? Who has been present in your life?

Presence is one of the few gifts that is both free and priceless at the same time.

Presence is one of the few gifts that is as valuable to the wealthy as it is to the poor, to the elderly as it is to the newborn.

Being present is offering brief precious moments in life that are both gone in an instant.

Being present is offering brief precious moments in life that can last a lifetime.

Being present is holding their hand the day they are born, and the day they die.

Being present is laughing with someone when life is funny and beautiful.

Being present is being there for loved ones when they’re facing the worst day of their life.

Being present is being there to mourn with those that mourn, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort.

Being present is being there with someone in their most triumphant moment.

If you happen to celebrate a gift giving holiday during this time of year, recognize that the greatest gift in the world is not a present.

If you happen to reverence and worship as a Christian, recognize that everything is made possible through the grace of Jesus Christ, our Savior and King.

Presence is, in my opinion, the greatest gift we can offer to others.

Preach it, Tim! I totally love this, and it's very true in my case. Having someone just be there for me through the rough times means more than a gift card or new pair of shoes (though those are pretty, too) could ever mean. I don't celebrate Christmas for the gifts, but for the time spent with those that I love and care about more than anything else in this world.

Spring is going to be the first time I'll be healthy AND have access to barbells.
I was recovering from a torn meniscus at least half of the fall semester.
I don't expect a miracle, but I expect improvement :D
