Wouldn't this be enough to make any mother stop loving her child?

This is a video clip from The Good Son:

In the movie, her child already killed his baby brother Richard by drowning him, he tried to kill his younger sister and then even tried to kill his mother. She did dropped him eventually after hesitating but was that such a hard choice?

Yet, in the long book version of it, the lady still visits his grave, still loves him even after the choice she made. I'm not a mother but if anyone (including my younger brother) push me off a cliff, trying to kill me they are already an enemy and I would kill them in self-defense. I sure wouldn't visit their grave.

Good mothers don't just stop loving their child no matter what. Even a mother who goes through something similar still loves her child, though she may not like him/her. Motherly/fatherly love is something deeper, unbreakable, unconditional. She recognized him as a bad child and that was taken into quick consideration when she made the choice to save the other, but that doesn't mean that choice did not break her. I also think it's something you can't fully understand until you are a mother/father. Brotherly/sisterly love isn't the same unmoving bond that a parent has with thier child.
