My boyfriend (29m) and I (30f) have been together a couple of years now. This is his first serious relationship so we agreed I would be patient with him, as he didn't know what is expected from him being in a long-term relationship. And I've been very patient. To the point that I felt like I was his mother ocasionally. Before we hook up he lived alone, used to drink with his buddies every other night, live for the moment, etc. I told him this is not the way I wanted to live, so if he does then we should split up. He said he was done with this life. And he said that a million times. Time went on, he started spent more time with me, even almost stopped seeing his friends or so I thought. Although sometimes he did this thing that he wasn't coming home right after work but hanged out with his buddies all night till mornings. And everytime he did this, while he was gone he forgot to let me know in anyway where he was or what he was doing. Like he could've texted "I'm with..., I'll be back tomorrow", "I'm fine, I'm having a guys night out, don't wait for me". So when this happened I just waited for him to decide to show up and let me know he is alive. 2 weeks ago I had enough and we had a break but he promised he wouldn't do this anymore, said it was because of the alcohol and he would stop drinking and all.
Well, now I found out the times he was out like that, he went to casinoes and was gambling, again "because of the alcohol". There is even a bank loan I knew nothing about, obviously he spent all his money on gambling and he's kind of broke. I don't care for his money, I always pay my bills and he pays his. But we had plans on having kids and family together in the near future and I'm not sure anymore that he's a husbant material and that I would ever really trust him after all this, it's like I've been living a lie. Now I'm stuck, can't make the decision to dumb him or forgive him, I'm in shock. Any advise, please? Anything like this happened to you?
