Long time tenant and friend didn’t invite me to his house warming party (but invited the new tenant living at my place)?

I rented a room out to a guy at my place for nearly 3 years. Overall we got along real well. There was some tension from time to time (we have different political beliefs) but we seemed cool after he moved out. He ended up buying his own place.

I did a lot of favors for him helping with his new place. I had to write a letter to his mortgage officer, I let him keep his new furniture at my place, I lended him my dolly and carpet cleaner machine.

I did visit his new place once and congratulated him. I gave him advice on renting out to tenants. He mentioned in conversation he would invite me to his house warming party. But there was no specific date or time.

Now my new tenant is the same race (and country) as my former tenant. I can understand why he invited him. But he didn’t invite me directly (phone or text). I only found out that the party is on Saturday through my other tenant.

I can’t go anyway (I have other plans) but it’s just the principle of it. It really pisses me off. I have invited him to several of my friends and family functions.

I plan on just acting professional after this if I don’t hear from him. Probably best to act like it doesn’t bother me? This really burns.

The only thing I could think of is in his mind he thought he told me the date and time when I visited his place 2 weeks ago. People usually text this stuff

Anyway if I don’t hear from him until after the party I won’t say anything. But I’m not going to go out of my way for him ever again. Funny he texted me today about a business venture like it’s no big deal. I even mentioned “hey people break things at your weekend house party you will money to repair it”

I can understand why he might be hesitant to invite me over. His girlfriend doesn’t really like me. Him and most of his friends are from a different race/culture. I’m older than most of them. I would of just showed up for an hour for a quick drink and hello and probably take off.

But it’s just about principle. If the roles were reversed I would if never of excluded him. It’s very rude.

Fingers crossed he invites me in the next 24 hours.

He’s tricky. He’s the easiest and most approachable guy in the world to chat with. He’s a good listener. I’ve never seen him get angry or upset.

But just excluding me because his girlfriend isn’t crazy about me (who I tried to make peace with. I invited them both to my sisters 30 bday party. they accepted and showed up).
