Well first Welcome to Gag.
You can do what you just did or write a post Just saying... Good morning afternoon evening etc How's your day going G@G on the gag community topic.
Give a wut shout out hey I'm new Hi just saying Hi and wondering how's y day going so far? Bang short simple!
Or you can wait off a bit on that. go about answering questions until you are a xper 2 so you can post a picture with your how are you introduction.
As long as you're answering questions being respectful don't insult people don't troll you should find a steady crowd to follow. Keep in mind unfortunately it happens there are trolls to come after the newbies when this happens just ignore their comments they live off of negativity. You don't need to get into any troubles with the admins so don't start any bickering back and forth it's not worth it.
Do you want to stand out just look for good topic questions. As I go but my day if I spot anything interesting I'll snap a picture of it or jot it down I don't always ask every single question I think of but it helps to have things saved. Good luck you'll find your group soon enough.

I would answer peoples' questions and reply to their opinions. Answer their questions when they send you answer requests and follow them. Also feel free to dm people (if they're ok with it. Some people will mention in their profiles if they're okay with other people messaging them or not). Say hi to them and if you find you have things in common strike up conversations with them

There’s a recommendation section in each page. Choose someone to follow and then privately message them and strike up a conversation. I’ve done it a lot and it works so I have lots of friends on GAG
