Why are sons babied more than daughters?

So I graduated highschool. My brother dropped out of junior high. My mom tried to get him to get his GED but he never did. I couldn't have a thought about dropping out (not that I wanted to). She talks to him all nice and tries not to cause confrontation if he disagrees with her on something. Seems like when it's me she wants to lecture me a lot and give me the "cold truth" and doesn't let me get a word out. My male cousin dropped out of school too but his sister graduated college. Feels like the boys in the family are babied while the girls have to try harder.

This happened to my brother as well, but honestly you are better off. You will be so much happier when your life is in order faster than your brothers. Your brother has a lot to learn if he isn’t motivated to get his GED and he will probably regret it when he ages and matures. Me and my sister weren’t babied, and we are FAR more independent than my brother is. Consider yourself lucky! Your mother sees you capable of becoming successful

That's not true. My mom literally still babies me to death and I'm 19 now. 🙄

I think it varies by family and culture. But to me. The father is more likely to keep babying his daughter and the mother is more likely to keep babying her son.

You have an unusual family then. In my experience from what I have seen IRL it has usually been the opposite.
