I don’t understand why he would feel comfortable asking this? I was a little lost for words when he wanted me to help his son get into school. I’m a professor at a university. I have no control over administrative work. I can give advice and that’s all. Am I wrong to feel uncomfortable, or like this man only cares about his son and bettering his son.

Tell him that maybe he should’ve been contacting you more frequently before he learned you are a professor , and not suddenly when he needs something out of you. Secondly tell him to stop having a privileged mindset and make his son EARN his way to that college. Any person that gets into colleges for their grades, work ethic, and GPA actually deserve to be in college, and not a privileged brat that couldn’t get into the school without a family member stepping in to help.

Your discomfort is valid, and you don't have to help if you'd rather not.
