Is it wrong for my step daughter to ask me to take off her high heels and massage her feet?

My daughter went to her friends house to celebrate her friends birthday, she wore a nice dress and high heels. When she comes home she just sits next to me on the couch to watch tv and then a couple of minutes later she says dad can you do me a favor. I say, "sure what is the favor." She puts her feet on my lap and then says, "please take off my heels and massage my feet please. I am not thinking anything sexual since she is my step daughter. I just feel wrong because I have never done this and I feel like it's not a normal thing to do. I actually took off her heels and massaged her feet but I am not sure if that was the right thing to do. She is not my daughter so I still want to respect her because I think of her as family.

There is nothing wrong with massaging another person's feet as long as a few precautions are taken.

1. Don't ever let this favor become a habit.
2. Advise this person of the limits you don't intend to go beyond
3. Ensure that she is properly dressed.
4. Make sure that she is sober and not under the influence of drugs/alcohol.
5. Ask her for the reasons for this one time massage.
6. Never take the initiative to massage her without her express consent.

There are many more precautions to take but I personally would limit this massage to an occasional occurrence and not allow it to become a habit.

This is something I’ve only done with a male cousin once just being playful when we were teens, and boyfriends/ or guy friends to get their attention.


I could never imagine putting my feet.. whether I was wearing heels or not.. in the lap of my father or stepfather if I had one.
