So many times but they were the ones panicking. I was just exploring! It was a habitual thing like they'd call the department store saying they lost me, call the police, etc.
One time while I was a kid in Malaysia, I wandered off while my parents were lounging at the swimming pool and I came across this isolated and rocky beach. No one was there! Freeeeddommmmm!
So I swam so far and deep into the ocean but then I felt a sharp sting and I couldn't move my leg. Then I couldn't move both legs even though I only felt a sting in one. Then blood surrounded me everywhere and the only thing I could feel and use were my arms.
Thankfully some people wandering by spotted me and helped me back and drove me to the hospital. Apparently, I got stung many times by multiple jellyfish with ankle lacerations and calf and thigh including some arteries. So they injected me with various shots and then my parents were like, "Where'd he go now?"
But I was always wandering off.
I'm still like that now. I have this notoriety for ditching my friends sometimes if I get bored and wander off. There's this running meme joke my friends use for me now like so:
But I'm an explorer as I see it! :-D

As a child, I never got lost with my parents. Because my parents are very aware and caring. Whenever I would go somewhere with my parents, my parents would hold my hand very tightly. I wanted to walk alone without my parents, but my parents would never let me go. So I never got lost in my childhood
Yes, once. It was in the supermarket. My mum was shopping for groceries and since I found that boring I wanted to stay by my dad's side who was at the part where tech stuff is, so they agreed I'll be by my father's side until we have to go to the cashier together. Long story short, I walked off to the toys section and got scared when I couldn't see my parents, I got scared. All I know is that my mother was called through the pa system, by her full name, to come to the info station 😂I can't remember the situation properly, since I was really young but I know that my mum gets really upset lol. She said she jumped out of her skin when her name was called through the speakers. Supposedly, one of the workers saw me crying and when I told them I couldn't find my parents they took me to the info station.
When we mention that story, I often joke and say that's what happens when you leave the kid alone with a dad 🤣
Yes, maybe 3 times. Not as often as my sister though.
I had anxiety as a kid so I clung to my parents leg, but if I was playing with a toy or something or got distracted and wandered off, I would get “lost” but they were just an isle next to me lol.
My sister, oh jeez, she did not care. She would wander off to a next store without letting anyone know, or she would just disappear. It was a pain in the ass for my parents. They had to put one of those leashes on her because anywhere they went, she would wander off when my parents weren’t looking for a millisecond.

Yeah I got lost in mall. And basically dominated the staffs who were like "Aww so cute girl! Where are your parents?". I was a toddler that time and very dominating too. I replied "Aghhh aye do your work or I will complain to your boss". Lmao. Somehow a staff took me to the radio place like thing and said on the mic "A baby girl of around 4 years is lost in this mall. She is wearing a pink frock and yellow shoes. She have very big eyes like um deer and is quite dominating. She threatened us that she will complain us to our boss. So her parents kindly take a hold of her. She is soo bold to be handled by us. More dangerous than our boss!" lmao. My mom still teases me with this.
Yes, I got lost in a department store in England (we lived there in my early childhood) when I was about 3 or 4. I still remember it vividly, the fear that I would never see my family again, and that I would have to live in a orphanage (god knows why I thought that) luckily the store had a great policy in place, and my mother was alerted over the PA that I was at the customer service desk, and she was frantic when she found me there… I was never happier to see my mother than I was in that moment!
No, but my second brother did while my mum was giving birth to my third brother and my Papa started panicking that my mum would kill him, if he couldn't find my brother. It wasn't his fault, though. It was my maternal grandmother's and also my extremely curious but also naughty brother's. 😐
Back in the 90's they were still unsure about ADHD/Autism, so my little bro was only drugged up on Ritalin, which didn't completely help him. He was so hyper and even worse in public! He would try to run around a store, and if it had toys he'd open them.. I always had to watch him while my mom did the shopping.
Sort of... Brace yourselves for this one:
I was abandoned at an amusement park when I was 8 by my parents. One went on a ride and the other decided it was unfair and left me on a bench when I wasn't looking.
A staff member saw it all go down and eventually I was reunited with the parent that went on the ride.
@dustybiker I know, crazy right?
Definition of traumatized. lol Glad the staff was on the ball. Oh my.
@dustybiker I wasn't too traumatized. 😂 I was really mad though.
Haha! Love it! That would have been me. 😁
@dustybiker 😈
@TrueConfection lol
Yeah, it's called where tf did they go. I stg they were ri-oh they're on the next aisle in the store.
Any other time, I don't remember. I usually be close enough in range to scream for help. And then the cell phones came in... the distance increased.
A couple of times once at a Sears. It was the same week that Adam John Walsh was taken from a Sears in Florida. I was the same age as Adam. I was playing in the clothes rack and mom absolutely flipped out screaming at the top of her lungs in absolute hysteria! It took them 10 minutes to find me. It must have felt like forever for my mom.
I wouldn’t say lost but more like left behind lol. This was back when Walmart had the game systems set up in the game isle. My mom used to drop me off there while she shopped and pick me up when she was ready to check out. Well I guess one day she completely forgot she had me with her and left me behind for I wanna say 3 hours lol
I don’t think I’ve ever gotten lost when I was with my own parents. But I remember I went to the zoo with a friend and his grandma as a kid, we ended up wandering off and checking out the exhibits on our own.
We weren’t scared or anything, we didn’t feel “lost”, we were just having a good time trying to find the red pandas lol
Yep. In particular I remember being about 6 and being at the mall with my Mom and her friend and I took off with her daughter who was about a year younger than me and we had a good old time exploring the place. They were pretty upset when they found us.
That girl wound up a serious drug addict but I don't think our little adventure had anything to do with it...
I lost my Dad at Disneyland! 🙄 He was supposed wait for me on the bench near the ride I was on. But when I got off the ride he wasn't there! What's even worse is he is completely deaf, so I couldn't scream out for him.
Parents were multitaskers, and I was a shadow. Never happened.
I just had a conversation about this with my mom… because they used to tell me I always ran off. We didn’t have phones then… they said I eventually found my way home.
That's horrible! A nightmare for the kid and also for the parents. That has never happened to me and if it did, I have no doubt that my parents would be happy to lose me.
Yeah lol, when we'd go to supermarket I would always wander around exploring each place and then get lost lol. My mum would be desperately looking for me 😂Luckily nothing serious ever happened tho.
a lot of times... but in dreams, lol
used to dream all the time about being left behind and then lost... on either side of the border, never happened for real though
Hell yeah, I would always drift off staring at things when we were out and about
Nope, it was my parents that got lost. I always knew where I was.
I remember getting lost once in Harrods of all places, I think they were trying to ditch me 😂
Yes once my mom took me grocery shopping with her and I stopped to look at something on one of the shelves and when I was done looking my mom I saw that my mom had left the aisle
I snuck out of the house and walked around my neighborhood when I was a kid.
I do recall standing on the corner at the lights when I reached out 7 grabbed my mothers hand to cross it was a total stranger there beside me.
I don’t know, maybe once. Either that or I’m just confusing it with going to school for the first time. Or daycare…. Speech class since I never talked apparently
Let's just say that the movie theaters used to be pretty big…😅 😂 🤣
Not parents. But on a field trip at summer camp. Went to the bathroom. Come back out everyone was gone.
It happened to me a couple of times, I was scared and crying
