Was my mom wrong for calling me ignorant and saying that what I was saying was wrong?

My mom and I were talking about her finances. I had pointed out that as of know what she can count on to retire on is the money that she has saved in her bank account (besides social security). I told her not to count the value of her cars (she has 2, 1 fully paid, the other one paying) or on the money that people might give to her (gifts). The value of cars depreciate and gifts are not reliable. She got me and said I was being ignorant and saying stupid things. I know my mom and I said those things because I want her to focus on working to secure her retirement instead of waiting on gifts & the government.

She is in the wrong. You were being helpful and kind. She was aggressive for no reason. Obviously she didn't like the truth, but she took her feelings out on you.

she reacted this way because she's an adult and you are her child to her. all you can do is try and keep her informed, but that's about it. it's in her hands after that.
