Why does my mom never buy any food?

There’s never any food in my house, my mom is a single parent but there’s not much besides ramen or bread to choose from. I’m always starving and I want to actually eat something but we never have anything decent at my house and then when I tell my mom this she just tells me that I complain. She went shopping today and I said “did you buy any food?” And she just said “yeah I got eggs and milk” wtf. She never buys anything. I’m 18 so I already pay her rent every month which I can barely afford from my part time job. I’m so annoyed.

Sorry to hear about that. Unfortunately if your mom has never been one to stock the fridge then I wouldn’t expect her to switch up any time soon, so you’re in your own. Yes it sucks but this kind of adulting comes with adulting. I’d suggest getting an app that can help with budgeting. Even if you don’t get much of a check, even cents can start going towards a meal plan until you can get a job that pays more.

I don't know the laws in Canada, but if 18 is considered an adult then you should be responsible for your own food.

Maybe that's all she can afford, just like you.

Well of course you are complaining. Why don't you do something to improve the situation. She may just be doing as much as she can. It's not that she's keeping you hungry but herself is eating more.
