Guys, are most of your friend get-togethers superficial or deep in terms of conversation topics?

Most get-togethers I’ve had with friends have been more centered around light-hearted fun.


I really only have deep conversations with my SO and very few select individuals.


When I say deep, I mean conversations where you really dig deep into emotions, troubling memories, and philosophical and existential topics that are close to my heart. The type of conversations that feel extremely candid and raw and intimate. Going into things like fears, worries, trauma, maybe even past abuse I’ve been through.


Basically, stuff that one would go to a therapist to talk about. THAT is what I consider deep.


From my experience, usually guys don’t go there with each other. They keep things light. They keep things fun. And they keep those thoughts to themselves.


Most guys are reserved about their emotions and grow up learning to bottle it all up inside. I’ve found some healthy outlets like meditation and journaling.


But yeah, I don’t really talk about those deep things.


I’ve only really opened up to 1 guy and 2 girls, like ever.

The closest was probably at a bachelor party where us groomsmen were sharing a joint and someone asked, “How do you know if you’re with a girl… How do you know if she’s the one?”

Guys don't talk about such things which is why I don't really like them. But also starting to think I shouldn't with women either. Superficial is what people like apparently and welp been deep with someone don't seem to yield any good results.

I've never really had one. The closest I've ever come to it is when there's a party after a gig we played and, most often, I'll sit where the stereo is and listen to records while everyone else goes off into little cliques in other rooms and talks about whatever they talk about. Mostly other parties they've been to, sports, cars, booze and drugs, girls they've fucked or wanted to fuck or other things I'm, generally, not interested in.

8 should add that i the past few years conversations have been dominated by politics and current event is that supervisual or deep conversation you make the call on that

At this point in my life, I generally prefere to be alone. When I did care about being around other people, intimate attraction was always at the top of my list.

I didn't say that right really. If it was a woman I was in a relationship with, I'd want to marry her and live together. I meant that when it comes to being around people for a long period of time that I'm not in a relationship with, it only takes but so long before I want to be to myself.
