Do guys like deep conversations and do they only have them with certain people?

me and this guy have been friends for years, lately we've gotten closer and we have been talking besides when we see each other, like over text and stuff.

We had a really deep conversation and it was a side I've never seen to him before, he's usually so private and humorous but he opened up so much and was telling me so much, he was really serious. Our conversations are usually banterous and teasing but this was so different, why?

Do guys like having deep conversations and do yous open up to anyone? it's just so odd

I have been wondering the same thing. My guy friend from high school never showed me anything but his goofy side before, and after we reconnected, he began to show me his vulnerable side, tell me about his deepest fears and goals in life. I think maybe we just make these guys feel safe or welcomed to share these serious conversations with.

People that are always joking around and keeping to themselves are that way for a reason. Making jokes is a good way to avoid embarrassing conversation. It's a typical trait of people with low self esteem. It appears that he trusts you and doesn't feel the need to hide his feelings when he's with you.

Yes a million times yes. I love "opening up" with good friends and I love listening to their thoughts and problems.
Unfortunately my crush is very unserious - and so am I 90% of the time - so we've never had this even though we've been friends for a year.

Usually, my deep conversations revolve around engineering stuff (I know - BORING!!). But, of late, I don't really have anyone in my circle of influence to engage with that type of banter.

I like deep long conversations, but it depends on the person I'm with
the longer I know the person, the more likely it's going to happen

it depends on the people, the time and the setting. usually club hookups for xample are not breeding ground for deep conversations but for silly/fun talk... .
