Would you say you prefer the company of your pets or animals generally than with people?
Animals are simple and easy, and therefore more pleasant. But there is something to be said for a little difficulty and struggle. It makes the good times a little more fulfilling and the complexity of a human interaction I think in the bigger picture makes it something a bit more rewarding.
Though I did choose "agree" because yeah, it's just lazy but having a puppy or cat is a simple pleasure easily enjoyed. A human is a complicated potential for chaos and mess.

Animals may not be able to talk, but they love you unconditionally if you take care of them. Sad part is their lifespan is way shorter than the average shitbag you deal with on a daily basis.
I'm gonna tell you that someone who says something like that is actually just settling for something subpar because they are too afraid of relationships with human beings.
And to answer your question, no. Animals cannot replace an actual human being in a relationship. they're both entirely different
Animals are much less judgmental than people. They are more unconditionally loving. Of course I love people too, but only certain people. I love all animals because on the whole they are better than us.

I've always been one of the few people I know who don't like animals. I will tell you why. Humans are taught to be controlled and rational. While animals can be tamed and domesticated, they can't express their thoughts verbally. Therefore, sometimes you don't know what to expect of them. They can't control their aggression so easily and they sometimes attack you unexpectedly. Cats do that more than dogs, but even dogs jump on people and bite them sometimes. While humans nowadays mostly harm other humans emotionally (and it's up to us to find mechanisms not to be affected by others), animals harm humans physically, and it is not up to humans how much they let themselves affected. I agree that a human baby is not rational and they might bite others, but at least they have the potential to become rational human beings, while animals stay the same their whole lives. I would never understand why humans have pets. Since humans have rationality, they can choose when to be good and when to be bad and they can choose to be good enough not to harm animals, unlike animals, who don't know what good and bad means. But I advocate for a separation between humans and animals. Humans should live with humans, animals with animals.
If the basis of a reply is governed strictly by the use of the info from the quote you cited, then I would agree. Pets have "short memories" regarding the petty squabbles that can turn a human's mind inside out. BUT, they DO have a memory for those who abuse them. However, a pet will "set themselves up" for failure with their unconditional love bent, thinking that the abuser might change. When an abused and abandoned pet is rescued, it take weeks- if not months- for the rescuers to allow that pet to re-trust humans. But, the trust will come, given time.
A pet's needs are more simple than those of a human: food, shelter, reasonably accommodating owners, guided discipline tempered with patience and love. The result is one heck of a great companion. But comparing an animal companion versus a human companion? Naw, you do NOT want to get into THAT argument. It is the very simplicity of a pet's entering thinking than that of a human which is the very thing that precludes a one-to-one, face-on comparison of the two.
If you would like to help pets that have been rescued from abusive situations and given a proverbial new lease on life and a hope of finding a great forever home/human, might I suggest a donation to the McKamey Animal Center in Tennessee. It just might help bridge that human-pet gap for a deserving animal or two. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
I strongly disagree. I mean, some animals are better than many humans, but I still prefer being around our species. Besides, I know how to act around humans and I don't know how to deal with animals.
I can be around my cat all day, but I will still get lonely and want someone else around.
I strongly agree. Love my animals and enjoy their company all the time. As far as people go, I need my time and space so having someone around all the time would be a bit much for me.
I would PREFER to have a relationship with people but, I just never get the chance anymore! Although I would gladly take a dog as a replacement, I just don't have room for one, here.
Very difficult. I see pets as family and they are easier to get along with than humans, but there’s so many more ways to interact with other people. I guess I’ll have to disagree as I’d much rather have a wife than a pet.
As long as you treat them well, an animal can be a great companion for their lifetime for the most part. People are rarely that, they come and go so often.
My longest friendship has been with the regular piegeon folks. So yeah lmao.
Some animals are far better friends than most people, so... I agree somewhat.
Animals are usually more loyal, so there is that.
I prefer the company of animals mostly. They're fuzzy and nonopinionated. Rarely creep me out. My standards have fallen.
I don’t quite understand it since all biological organisms from ants to Dreadnoughtus’ are people but okay yes.
I will say that I have gotten more out of the stray cats I care for than most people I encounter.
