There's only one way to handle someone who is like that. You have to beat them at their own game. Pretend you don't care. Shrug your shoulders and pretend you don't care what they have to say and how they're acting.
When she criticizing your opinions or doesn't want your advice, pretend you don't care. This drives people crazy! I did this with my narcissistic aunt for years.
She might be a narcissist. If she is, the only downside is, eventually she'll see that you don't care and start fights just to get your attention. Other than that, it works like a charm. When someone tries to tear someone else down and they can't, they go crazy! lol
Record that behavior and show it to her somehow. People like that don’t see how bad they look and sound. I know, because I was like that to my little brother before I took anti-depressants. I think back on it a lot and I think I would be ashamed if I had a “saw myself in the mirror” moment.
You think they know what they are doing. They don’t seem crazy, but they are not in control. They are out of control. Especially with enough stress. It’s not them talking, it’s something else.

Stress and/or mental disorder turns people into expert assholes, often against their will.
I was also getting worse as I got older, so there’s another clue that what I’m saying is what is happening.
I also thought I was right about everything and everyone else was wrong. It scared me that on anti-depressants I thought my previous thoughts were frightening and insane.
Research “dopamine deficiency”. People hugely underestimate the importance of dopamine. It is as important to our bodies as food and air. Most of us know dopamine makes us happy, but hardly any of us know it is directly responsible for many super important things like memory and concentration. Dopamine leads to success which leads to happiness which releases more dopamine which helps you succeed, and so on. The opposite happens with less dopamine. Less dopamine will make you clumsy and not good at academics which make you sad which will lower your dopamine further which will make you even more distinctions.
I hope things work out for you two. My brother hasn’t spoken to me in 4 1/2 years. We used to be extremely close. Breaks my heart. I got on my meds too late because everyone including myself brushed off my behavior as natural.
My brother is like this but not as bad as me. My mom is like this but a lot worse than me. Her dad and his dad were like this. My dad is like this when he is stressed out.

It’s misleading and therefore problematic to call it “depression” because it involves anger and bullying. It’s just an asshole disease.
Xanax is only for anxiety, not depression. I know because fluoxetine helped my anxiety but not depression. It wasn’t until years later when I was at the edge did I seek help and was evaluated and diagnosed and prescribed wellbutrin. I don’t know why my doctor didn’t realize sooner. Anxiety disorder and depression are often linked.

I’m almost certain now your sister has depression with anxiety disorder. My mom was also a drinker.
I recommend somehow getting her evaluated for depression then if she is diagnosed with depression, i recommend prescribed anti-depressant medicine. Therapy didn’t work for me.
For me the anti-depressants worked like magic, and still does. Some effects may be immediate but the average time to see results is a few weeks.
I also heard a story of anti-depressants turning my grandfather into a “totally different person.”
And do it as soon as possible. I was seriously thinking about killing myself every 2 seconds for years.
That’s not an exaggeration or figure of speech. I timed it. Every 2 seconds while I was awake. I resisted the urge until I had no willpower left (17 years). And I had a choice of getting help or not. I was reluctant but desperate, and I’m so glad I got help. I was happy just to feel normal. I felt 14 again when I didn’t have depression. I could laugh again.
And I don’t get super pissed off over little things like dropping my keys. I either feel nothing or chuckle a little, involuntarily. Before that, I wanted to die over that kind of stuff.
Don’t be fooled if she sits still quietly for long periods of time. When I did that it was taking all my concentration to not kill myself. People described me as “calm” but in my head I was screaming and crying.

Although i have cut my sisters completely from my life as what they recently done is unforgivable. My advice Try to back off giving advice. I hated my sister doing this, especially if I never asked for it. I would get annoyed whenever she did it.
I think my sisters were in a way jealous of me because they always called me spoiled. They alao gave me shit because I had my own room when they didn't, but what they failed to realise is I only ended up with my own room because they moved out and went on to have kids. Before that i had to share a room with them. They also believed our parents paid for everything for me when I actually paid for 98% of the things I owned. Even after I had my baby, my sister was there calling me spoiled and I was like how am I spoiled. I got dumped and I am raising my baby completely on my own with no help at all. Where she raised her kids with her partner.
You should distance yourself. That's what I would do and I did because it hurt too much.

She belongs to the streets. The last black woman I dated, whenever I had a hard day at work, would invite me over, have a bath drawn for me in her jetted tub and one of my favorite meals made. She would serve it to me on a tray while she bathed me, dry me off and give me a massage until I fell asleep, then when I woke up would break me off something proper.
Any womam who is rude to a man can be replaced by one who isn't. There's 8 billion people in the world. More than half of them are women. Do the math.

u I have a sister to whom I have given far too many second chances! Every time I gave her another chance, she stabbed me in the back once again. I have finally excluded her from my life. I blocked her phone number, I don't speak to her when I see her, and I try to reduce or eliminate any information about me which she might access. It was my last resort.
It sounds like she needs to grow up and step up her game because she's not performing at the level that you are. You are absolutely correct the. Jealousy she has leads to resentment. That's not your fault that you're out performing her in life. It should signal her that she needs to start putting in more effort to get to your level. . If anything it's a sideways compliment that she's treating you so jealously and resentfully because that means she's admitting you're better. You can't control her reaction but you can control your reaction to her actions. Try saying thank you for the compliment the next time. She goes off on you and watch it make her even more angry😆

I will never tolerate toxicity within family or friends. No one should and those that do suffer greatly as a result. For what? There is no trophy for appeasing the family much less "keeping it together".
What is about sisters? My wife and her sister did not get along and one other women I dated, did not get along with her sister, either.
I have an older brother and we got along about 95% of the time.
If my sister and I did not get along I would try to get to the root of the problem. It can't be good always being at each other. I prefer stability in the family and would compromise to make it work.
I think it comes down to whole competition thing. Each sister likes to know they are doing better than the other.
I'm sorry your sister treats you like that. I'm glad my sister doesn't but my brother did. I haven't spoken to him since my mom passed away in 2013. He thought he knew it all. The only time he contacted me is when he was homeless. I think you should eliminate all contact with her and Live your life peacefully

Distance makes the heart grow fonder, just make yourself unavailable for a month or two, then you'll be best buddies for a weekend, wash, rinse, repeat until you find that happy middle ground where you can be pleasant to each other.

I haven't really been in contact with my sister for 15 years bu really our relationship has been dead for 17 years. And I feel like it'll stay dead for a while still maybe for ever.
Not really she never wanted much to do with me as kids so I don't have anything to miss. And I like it more when difficult people are out of my life completely than going back and forth adding unnecessary stress to my life same goes for my dad. I'm happy with just having my mom in my life and people from her side of the family. And the people I meet and make friends with.

I can relate. I have to elder sisters with an age gap of 8 and 9 years. Whenever they avt like this, i either shut the out of my room, stop doing what the tell me to or pretend the aren't there.

Sometimes, jealousy and resentment can stem from other issues, like not feeling like you're being heard or respected. If there's something going on that's causing her to lash out, it might be worth talking to her about it. But if she's not open to talking, then I'd suggest setting some boundaries with her so that she knows that you won't put up with being treated rudely.
