We Italians hold family and food in high regard🇮🇹. The table is set a crisp white tablecloth , sparkling glasses and shiny silverware. Air is smells aroma of simmering sauces, garlic and fresh 🌿 . Relatives begin to arrive you can hear the joyful chatter❤️.

When it's time to gather around the table it's not just immediate family; it's a whole troop of relatives❤️. We believe in the more, the merrier. Uncles, aunts, cousins and even long-lost relatives😹.

Dinner table becomes a place where generations come together, stories are shared and bonds are strengthened😻. Mamma Mia!!

Sure! When I was young we always had family together for dinners. Grandparents, parents, cousins, aunts & uncles... it was common. But my family is very small, and now as adults we live far away from each other. So that doesn't happen much anymore.

I live in America. It is a tradition here in many cultures. There are a lot of Italian-Americans in the area I live so I am familiar with the Italian culture and yes... la famiglia ! is very important in their culture. I am not Italian, but many of the Italian customs are similar to the customs of my religion... so I think that is one reason why I have always had Italian friends who I could relate to. Family closeness is one of the customs we share.

I miss those family gatherings. You will never forget them, even when the older generations are gone.

Indian Muslim here.

For sure we have such gatherings. We're known for keeping family values. Majority of South Asian Muslims often eat together and when there are family gatherings with distant relatives, we make huge rows together while making sure that opposite gender distant relatives have separate places to eat. A 'dastarkhwan' (a carpet made for serving food). We often eat sitting on the ground but sometimes, on tables as well.

I however tend to follow religion a bit more strictly than the rest of the Muslims here because for some, culture dominates over religion, for me, it's vice-versa.

USA here. My family has dinner together every Sunday. I moved away and am too far to attend now.

I am from Western Pennsylvania area in the US. Our family tries to get together at least one Sunday a month for my dads side then an other Sunday moms side of the family.
